Arlene from Israel

What a rollercoaster ride the last 24 hours has been with regard to our war with Hamas.

Yesterday Egypt announced a proposal for a ceasefire: Both sides would stop firing, and then in 48 hours parties would convene in Cairo and – via an intermediary – discuss terms for a more permanent truce. Kerry was said to be coming to Cairo to participate.

This really did not have a good feel to it, and there was anxiety in several quarters here regarding what appeared to be pending capitulation by our prime minister. For word had come out that he was favoring acceptance of this proposal. Was he going to say that we had done enough, and that it was now time for ‘quiet for quiet’?

For the bottom line is that we have not done enough – I don’t care what Defense Minister Ya’alon says. Yes, there are ways in which Hamas has taken a real beating. But I’m picking up on reports that indicate that the key leaders, sitting in their underground tunnels, are alive and well and would be ready to pick up the fight again in no time. Similarly, because of the tunnels and the use of human shields, a large portion of the rockets remains intact and ready for future use. One source said we’ve destroyed one-third of their rockets. Ya’akov Amidror – who is a straight talker – says they have retained 90% of their high quality rockets.

No, it hardly time seemed like time to call it quits if there is serious intent to make sure that Hamas does not come back at us again in two years or three. Or four or five.

Of course, there was always the question of what Netanyahu would demand at those truce negotiations. But yet…but yet…

This morning the prime minister called a 7:00 AM meeting of the eight-person Security Cabinet to discuss the Egyptian proposal. Word came out that they had decided to accept the proposal. Only Naftali Bennett and Avigdor Lieberman were opposed, and they were both furious. Hearts dropped, stomachs tightened, all over Israel. This looked like caving, a disastrous show of weakness. My own depression (and yes, I know what depression is) was heavy.

At 9:00 AM we stopped all attacks on Gaza.

But Hamas, adamantly and defiantly refusing the Egyptian proposal, kept right on firing rockets at us – at least 50 in the next six hours.

Credit: Yonaton Sindel/Flash90

Hamas would have had trouble accepting the ceasefire because they had not achieved any significant “victories.” With their honor-shame mental-set, it would have been near impossible to do. Especially as they did not anticipate any major victory in the negotiations – no Gaza blockade lifted, no Hamas prisoners released. Their leaders actually complained about this: How can we stop when there is nothing indicated about what terms would be? All that was discussed was a readiness by Israel to open crossings to let additional supplies in.

It took six hours. At 3:00 PM, Netanyahu said, “That’s it!” He ordered attacks on Gaza to begin again, and about half an hour later they started.

Well now…we were suddenly seeing something different. And perhaps quite brilliant.

Netanyahu had been seeing the growing criticism of Israel around the world. The scum in Hamas, by encouraging human shields, had upped the casualties and secured multiple PR opportunities for talking about how Israel hits innocent children. (See more about this below.) In multiple quarters, there were anti-Israel voices being raised. Forgotten is the fact that Hamas started firing those rockets first. Or that we abort sorties to save children.

Our prime minister (and the Cabinet?) likely saw that carrying through a major operation would have been increasingly problematic because of large scale international criticism. The dynamic needed to be changed.

And this undoubtedly changed it. The situation was structured so that Netanyahu became a seeker of peace, the person willing to stop shooting. And Hamas was the party that sought violence even in the face of quiet.

Credit: Olivier Fittousi

This is what Netanyahu said at a press conference earlier today with the German foreign minister (emphasis added):

“…the refusal of Hamas to honor the ceasefire “gives Israel full legitimacy to expand the operation to protect our people.”

“We agreed to the Egyptian proposal in order to give an opportunity for the demilitarization of the Strip – from missiles, from rockets and from tunnels – through diplomatic means.
“But if Hamas does not accept the ceasefire proposal, as would now seem to be the case, Israel would have all international legitimacy to broaden the military operation to achieve the required quiet.”

John Kerry had cancelled his trip to Cairo, because there were not going to be any ceasefire negotiations after all. From Vienna, he said (emphasis added):

“I cannot condemn strongly enough the actions of Hamas in so brazenly firing rockets in multiple numbers in the face of a goodwill effort to offer a ceasefire, in which Egypt and Israel worked together, that the international community strongly supports.

Hamas is “purposely playing politics” by continuing the rocket fire, using innocents as “human shields… against the laws of war. And that is why they are a terrorist organization.”

How about that? He cannot tell us to use “restraint” now, can he?

I’m going to stick my neck out here, with pure speculation, colored by a bit of intuition. (No one has let me in on any secrets.) I think it possible that Egypt was complicit in setting up a situation that cornered Hamas. I think this did not just “happen.” I’ve provided evidence in recent days of an Egyptian desire to have Israel take out Hamas. Their role in the current scenario has helped to make it more possible.

How far will Israel now go towards taking Hamas out? This remains to be seen. Still tonight, I hold my breath, as I wait to see what unfolds. The nation is so weary of this, and so eager to be done with Hamas.

We are being told there is a long operation likely ahead of us, and that what must be done will be done. But this tells us nothing. The prime minister says the war will intensify. Lieberman is pushing for us to take over Gaza.

YNet quotes an unnamed “senior military official,” who said:

“A ground offensive could help combat the many tunnels in the Strip, where the Air Force is not effective…

“Our recommendations to the political leadership were clear on this issue. A ground maneuver to destroy the tunnels will take somewhere between a week and two weeks, and the troops deployed to the border are trained for this and prepared for this. There is a small but significant amount of tunnels that we’ve yet to expose, and they’re targets in this maneuver.

[A ground offensive against the terror tunnels] “has high chances of being successful. It will require confrontation with the enemy and the evacuation of civilians, and will lead to the increase of rocket launching at Israel, but we trust the troops. The solutions will come from the fighting forces on the field, from the bottom, not just from the army command.”

I will add here that trusting the troops with solutions from the bottom is very Israeli.

Data of note:

In a report it just released, CAMERA has revealed Israel has killed “mainly combatant-age males, not women or children”: a close read of the data “shows that, as in past hostilities, the fatalities are disproportionately [compared to the overall population] among young males, which corresponds with the characteristics of combatants. Males over 40 years old are also disproportionately represented. Some of the fatalities in those over 40 years of age likely represent senior members of terrorist organizations.”

This contradicts “media reports that tried to paint Israel’s Operation Protective Edge as indiscriminately killing civilians.”

Keep praying for our soldiers, please! And for all of Israel.

Just walk away

T F Stern’s Rantings

Yesterday a fellow called asking if I was able to make and program a key for a Ford Freestyle van. I told him yes and asked where it was located. He paused and you could hear him going through file folders and talking to himself. He then read me the location which was on the other side of town; but still within my service area. He wanted to meet there at 4:00, just as rush hour traffic would be part of the mix. Reluctantly I agreed as I added twenty dollars to my fee; aggravation charge.

While enroute to the job the fellow called and said he was there waiting; it was 3:15. He mentioned that it would be okay for me to come early because the place where the vehicle was located needed to close by 4:30. Rush hour starts around 3:00 here in Houston so my travel time would still put me on spot around 4:00; as scheduled originally and it wouldn’t matter that I could “come early”.

Turns out he’d transposed the numbers so the address given wasn’t correct. His cell phone number went into voice mail when he didn’t answer; my fuse was already burning short.

Knowing the area I figured out where he probably meant, at least narrowed it down to a couple of different storage lots. The first one had all the numbers he’d given; but the last two numbers were transposed. The folks in the office had not heard of him or the vehicle I was supposed to work on. Calling the cell phone number again…still went into voice mail.

The other location was a storage lot two blocks closer to town so I asked the office manager the appropriate questions; sorry, not here either. She did ask me to leave a short stack of business cards and asked if she’d mind her handing them out. A line from a children’s story came to mind, “Oh, please, don’t throw me in the briar patch”…

My phone rang; it was my new favorite customer wondering why I hadn’t arrived. He told me the correct address, which just happened to be the original location I’d gone to; but he had been in the back of the lot and hadn’t bothered to tell anyone he was there.

He met me at the front gate and explained how we had to hurry because we only had twenty minutes to make the keys before they locked the gate. I figured I could get the job done; a few minutes to figure out the key cuts and ten minutes to program it would leave a few minutes to spare.

“Okay, so where’s the Ford Freestyle?”, it not being in plain view. He asked if he could get into my truck and he’d show me where it was. We drove to the back and he pointed to a car transport carrier (similar to the image provided). There were several vehicles on the transport; the Freestyle was on the top level. These were all stolen and recovered vehicles to be returned to their rightful owners.

I should give some background information at this time. A week ago I got a call from an out of state car transport company asking if I could make keys to a Ford Freestyle van, asking prices and availability. He said he’d have his local representative call me later in the day; but that never happened. Last Friday he called asking if the local representative had contacted me and I explained that he had not.

You guessed it; this was the local representative; except that when he’d called earlier in the day he had misrepresented himself, never mentioned the vehicle was on a transport or that he’d had the opportunity to have this work done for well over a week and had decided to wait until rush hour to do the work. Let’s not forget the lot closes in twenty minutes.

I turned to the fellow and said, “Get out of my truck”, followed by, “Close the door”. I then drove off, leaving him to walk back. If he started walking to the front right away, to where his rig was parked, he’d make it before being locked in when they closed up for the evening. There’s another line that could have been added, “…and that goes for the horse you rode in on”.

Some times it’s better to walk away from a job.

Limbaugh Was Right! Krauthammer, Will, Kristol Should Apologize
by John Kirkwood / on July 13, 2014 at 7:08 pm

About the author: John Kirkwood is a son of Issachar. He is a Zionist, gun-toting, cigar-smoking, incandescent light bulb-using, 3.2 gallon flushing, fur-wearing, Chinese (MSG) eating, bow-hunting, SUV driving, unhyphenated American man who loves his wife, isn’t ashamed of his country and does not apologize for his C … [read John Kirkwood’s FULL BIO]

He has made judges dependent on his will alone…He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance…For imposing taxes on us without our consent…For depriving us in many cases, of the benefit of trial by jury…For establishing an arbitrary government…For altering fundamentally the forms of our governments…He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people…He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us.

Do these charges ring familiar? I listed them on my blog in the days following Independence Day and one of my readers confessed that he thought I was railing against Barack Obama until he realized that I was quoting our Declaration of Independence and the charges made of George III.

And this is exactly what Rush warned us about before the inauguration when he said “I hope he fails.” Rush, in the same way that Patton knew Rommel, knew what Obama would do because he had read his book. It wasn’t rocket science, Rush had done his homework. He had listened to Obama’s own words, studied his background, and broken the code.

Those in the “conservative intelligentsia” are in the awkward position of having to admit either that Rush was right or feign surprise at the new realization that the Emperor is buck naked and therefore incompetent.

No beltway nabob will ever admit that Rush was right – that the President is an Alinsky Marxist implementing a Cloward/Piven coup to transform Uncle Sam into a tranny with an “I ♥ Antonio Gramsci” tramp-stamp emblazoned above her hot pants.

The truth is that leading Republicans and “conservative” journalists know that this president is not incompetent. They even know “what” he’s doing and “why,” but they don’t have the guts to tell the truth.

Bill Kristol, George Will, and Charles Krauthammer would rather commit ritual Seppuku than admit that Limbaugh has been right from the start. And to tell the truth now is to admit their own incompetence. So the party line will be that the President is illustrative of the Peter Principle. He isn’t following a recipe that he once taught to ACORN operatives out of Rules for Radicals, he’s merely “Jimmy Carter’s second term.”

Even my guy, the great Ted Cruz, on the Kelly File the other night, called Barack Obama “An absentee President,” who is not focused on the people “who are paying the cost for his failed policies.”

Sorry Ted, but that’s hogwash and you know it.

Maybe Senator Cruz has determined that the truth won’t sell or that Democrats will use that kind of rhetoric to their advantage, but wouldn’t it be refreshing to have a voice or a pen that communicated with the same clarity that Thomas Jefferson did against George III?

Obama is purposely destroying the American way of life. He is not governing, he’s ruling by sabotage. He doesn’t respect the Constitution, he flanks it. He doesn’t revere our Institutions, he batters them. And just because he’s golfing, clubbing, and playing pool doesn’t mean that he’s failed and incompetent any more than Al Capone getting a manicure or a lap dance meant that he was distracted from ruthlessly ruling and expanding his influence.

“The whole aim of practical politics,” said H.L. Mencken, “is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” Obamacare was destined to fail from the start because it was meant to issue in “single payer.” Run guns to Mexican cartels to foment a backlash here against the 2nd Amendment. Create chaos at the border to get amnesty. Gin up Global Warming hysteria to take control of energy. The goal is to control every aspect of American life and they are well on their way without nearly a peep out of the opposition party or the lapdog press.

As a friend wrote to me this week,

“I don’t think Obama has ever really worked a day in his life. He’s the spoiled child of an unstable single mother who, along with his grandparents, pampered him. He is a white boy who made it through the ranks of the radicals because of his dark skin and Good-time Charlie attitude. He is where he is because the Alinsky radicals knew they had The Guy for the job even if it meant they would do all the work. So yes, his actions are deliberate even if he is just the pretty face whose rhetoric distracts the sheep while his more competent policy makers prepare the slaughter.”

Ezekiel, a prophet of Israel, once described a true leader as a “Watchman on the wall.” His description was of a sentry manning a post on a wall of a fortified city whose one job was to watch the horizon and if he saw trouble approaching, to blow his shofar. If he alerted the people and they didn’t respond, their blood was on their own hands, but if he didn’t blow the alarm then the people’s blood would be on his hands.

Back in 2009, while George Will was hosting Mr. Obama at an off the record soiree and handing out finger sandwiches to fellow “conservatives” – Peggy Noonan, Charles Krauthammer, Rich Lowry, Paul Gigot, David Brooks, Larry Kudlow and Michael Barone, Rush Limbaugh was blowing the shofar. When Limbaugh wished that this president failed, he meant that he hoped that he failed in carrying out his sabotage of the last bastion of freedom on planet earth.

Incompetence may only be negligence but sabotage is treasonous. Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Michael Savage, and Sarah Palin are the lone voices of truth calling this what it truly is – a conscious, pre-meditated, well-organized coup. And they act as Maximus calling out the treachery of Commodus but in this case there isn’t even a single Senator with the brass to join them. I have long thought that there would be a group of generals and admirals who have been summarily purged from the Pentagon who would stand up for freedom. I was wrong.

Sharpen your pitchforks, it’s up to us.

Environmental Justice – HHS And The EPA’s Catchall for Societal Transformation and Redistribution

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton
Hat Tip: Bob Sowdon

Several days ago, I wrote an article entitled: The Office Of Refugee Resettlement – Facilitators For A ‘Manufactured Human Crisis.’ ORR is directly connected to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). HHS has become the ultimate transformational entity for the US in the Obama Administration. They are doing this under the guise of Environmental Justice.

HHS defines Environmental Justice as follows:

Environmental Justice (EJ) is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) leads the federal effort to provide an environment where all people enjoy the same degree of protection from environmental and health hazards.

Sounds nice and altruistic, doesn’t it? Not so much. Environmental Justice covers just about every radical movement put forth by the Progressive/Marxist Left. Some of the areas covered under this agency are: wealth redistribution, global warming/climate change, the environment, food, transportation, income redistribution/minimum wage, tribal populations and rights, Obamacare, rural assets/Agenda 21, the emergency response system,, housing, race discrimination/civil rights, education, amnesty/illegal immigration, Alaska native and non-native Alaskan communities, diseases, disaster recovery/emergency situations, job creation and funding.

For a movement that started out as a conservation movement, it certainly has morphed into a Progressive monstrosity. Instead, what the movement is now about is redistribution of all assets such as land, wealth, income, etc. It is a Marxist enforcement agency, pure and simple.

Perhaps the most egregious and patently false facade of HHS is tracking illegal alien children and proclaiming that citizenship is a right, much as they claim food, housing and environmental justice as a whole is a human right. I seriously believe these people don’t even know what a ‘right’ is.

The foundational principles of our Constitutional Republic:

  • Our Rights are unalienable and come from God;
  • The purpose of civil government is to protect our God-given Rights;
  • Civil government is legitimate only when it operates with our consent; and
  • Since the US Constitution is the formal expression of the Will of the People, the federal government operates with our consent only when it obeys the Constitution.

Nowhere in that did it say that people are entitled to things. Progressives seem to think they can just randomly define what a right is and make it so. That’s just not so. The Constitution is the basis for our Republic. To bandy about the term ‘Human Rights’ is merely to facilitate Marxist and government control through verbiage and self-proclaimed control.

Here is the SUMMARY OF STRATEGIC ELEMENTS, GOALS, AND STRATEGIES for Environmental Justice directly from HHS – see what you make of this:

Strategic Element I: Policy Development and Dissemination

  • Strengthen the application of health and environmental statutes and policies in minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes.
  • Identify and address, as appropriate, human health or environmental effects of HHS programs, policies, and activities on minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes.
  • Support and advance a “health in all policies” approach that protects and promotes the health and well-being of minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures.

  • Integrate environmental justice principles and strategies into the implementation of key statutes and policies that may impact minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes.
  • Incorporate environmental justice principles and strategies into consideration of emerging issues that may disproportionately impact minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes.
  • Provide consultation and/or partner with other Federal departments, where appropriate and feasible, on environmental policies, programs and initiatives that may impact health and well-being, with particular attention to minority and low-income populations and Indian Tribes.

Strategic Element II: Education and Training

  • Educate communities, workers, the general public, health professionals, human services providers and the HHS workforce about environmental justice and environmental health to empower them to actively participate in the development and implementation of programs, policies and activities impacting and serving minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures.
  • Build a health workforce prepared to prevent and diagnose conditions associated with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures and to provide high quality, culturally competent care.

  • Educate the public, especially in communities with minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures, about environmental justice, environmental hazards, and healthy community environments.
  • Enhance health professionals’ and human services providers’ education and training in environmental health and environmental justice.
  • Increase the knowledge and understanding of health and environmental justice across HHS agencies and among HHS employees.

Strategic Element III: Research and Data Collection, Analysis, and Utilization

  • Strengthen research and advance data collection on the health and environment of minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes.
  • Empower the public to participate in the development and implementation of HHS policies, programs, and interventions by improving access to data and research findings on the risks of adverse environmental exposures.

  • Increase the involvement of minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures in research and in data collection and utilization, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Identify and characterize environmental and occupational factors that have disproportionately high and adverse human health or environmental effects on minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes.
  • Bolster the efforts of HHS, state, local, territorial, and tribal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations, to collect, maintain, and analyze data on disproportionately high and adverse environmental and occupational exposures and on health effects in minority and low-income populations and Indian Tribes.

Strategic Element IV: Services

  • Improve access to and quality of care and services for minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures.
  • Advance the economic potential and social well-being of minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures.

  • Increase the capacity of health professionals delivering care and services to minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures to prevent, diagnose, and treat medical and behavioral health conditions associated with adverse environmental exposures.
  • Identify minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures, as well as the physical and behavioral health conditions and concerns of communities affected by these exposures.
  • Provide technical assistance and information resources to minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures in order to empower communities to address identified health and human services needs.
  • Provide funding opportunities and technical assistance to advance the economic potential and social well-being of minority and low-income populations and Indian tribes with disproportionately high and adverse environmental exposures.

This agency is aggressively insinuating itself into every aspect of our lives in the name of helping us. Aside from lavish meetings and retreats, where these regulatory fascists get together to discuss how we can be controlled, this regulatory behemoth has trashed the Constitution and every right we have. All the while, trying to redistribute every aspect of American production and success to the less fortunate and to those who feel entitled, thus transforming the US into a third world hellhole. Which, by the way, was the point all along. Environmental Justice is the HHS and EPA’s catchall for societal transformation and redistribution.

How’s Obama’s new version of reality working out for you America? Had enough yet? To quote Sarah Palin: “The many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored. If after all this he’s not impeachable, then no one is.”

Victim: The Sixteen-year-old

By: D.A. King
Victims of Illegal Immigration – A Collection of Essays
Hat Tip: Dick Manasseri

Dustin Inman was one of the uncounted thousands of Americans who have needlessly lost their lives because the U.S. government refuses to secure American borders or responsibly enforce immigration and employment laws. Forever sixteen, Dustin was a Georgia youth killed by an illegal alien in a senseless traffic collision on Father’s Day weekend in the year 2000.

On June 16th, the Inman family was on their way to a weekend of fishing in the North Georgia mountains, when an illegal alien snuffed out their American Dream.

In the United States illegally, Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez was able to obtain a valid North Carolina driver’s license using his Mexican birth certificate and a Mexican Matricula Consular ID card. Harrell-Gonzalezs’ speeding vehicle hurtled into the rear of the Inman family’s car while it was stopped at a red light in Ellijay, Georgia, killing Dustin and knocking unconscious Kathy and Billy Inman, his parents.

When Kathy regained consciousness (after five weeks in a coma), she learned of the death of her only son, and that she, because of spinal injuries received in the wreck that killed him, would spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair. Billy Inman will tell you that he blames the government, sworn to protect his family, for his son’s death, not only the illegal alien who killed him.

The Inmans have only a few school photos, some family snapshots, and a video made at Dustin’s funeral by which to remember their son.

America’s unsecured borders and lax policies and practices toward illegal immigration have changed their lives forever. The sad story is repeated far too often across the nation.

Billy misses his “hunting buddy” everyday. “I loved Dustin,” says Billy softly. He says that he will not rest until he brings his son’s killer to justice. He will also tell you that he “paid no attention to politics” and had never voted before he lost his son to America’s intentionally unsecured borders.

“The system really let me down,” says Billy.

Charged and indicted in the death of Dustin Inman, Gonzalo Harrell-Gonzalez is a fugitive after escaping from local police. His whereabouts are unknown.

D. A. King is the president of the Dustin Inman Society, which advocates for secure borders and immigration enforcement.
