Media Advisory – Vets For Freedom Holds Press Conference with Blackburn, Hunter On Afghanistan Tomorrow
WASHINTON—Afghanistan veterans will be joining Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7), Congressman Duncan Hunter (CA-52) and other Members of Congress at a press conference tomorrow to highlight the need for a strategic forum on Afghanistan. The press conference will kick off Vets for Freedom’s Day On The Hill, a lobbying day for veterans to urge both houses of Congress to support General Stanley McChystal’s troop recommendations for the War in Afghanistan. Scores of veterans will unite to call on Congress to support our commanders and troops on the ground by giving them the resources and troops they need to succeed in Afghanistan.
At the following press conference, Blackburn and Hunter will highlight the need for a forum where Members who have a special interest in Afghanistan policy can maintain a close connection to troops, experts, and policymakers. They will announce their plans to establish the Afghanistan Strategic Forum Caucus to create and maintain that connection.
