TODAY’S NN&V HEADLINES

  • Judge Adair Should Toss the Krolicki Case (Mike Zahara) – I’m not a lawyer, I don’t even play a lawyer on TV, but I have been a juror and assessing all that is and isn’t in the State of Nevada’s case against Lieutenant Governor, Brian Krolicki-unless some new bombshell drops-I’d vote to acquit.
  • Obama Goes Wobbly on Student Performance Requirement (NN&V Staff) – Looks like the Nevada teachers union might not have to give in and give up the ban on using student test scores in teacher evaluations after all.
  • How Nevada Can Play to its Strengths for Economic Rebound (Lorraine Hunt-Bono) – We won’t have stable and consistent revenue sources for government until we have stable and consistent job and business opportunities for all Nevadans.
  • Unions, Energy Industry Tops in Political Contributions (Warner Todd Huston) – According to FollowTheMoney.org unions were some of the most generous with donations to political candidates and causes during the 2007-2008 donation cycle, the last cycle full reporting is known for. A close second place goes to the energy industry with Indian interests coming in third.
  • Palin, 11 — Biden, 0 (Paul Jacob) – The old guns in the major media marshal their resources as subtly as they can to turn minds their direction, usually leftward. That’s so obvious that I don’t talk about it much.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS

“Any senior government fiscal analyst could tell you (if you persuaded him or her with truth serum or water-boarding) that for stable and consistent revenues, government must have the flexibility to respond to fiscal crisis by reducing spending, eliminating nonessential and redundant services, and the ability to redirect available revenues to essential services like public health and safety, education, and transportation.” – Lorraine Hunt-Bono, former Lieutenant Governor and a member of the Nevada Commission on Tourism
