Reds Exploiting Blacks: The Roots of Black Lives Matter

By: James Simpson
Accuracy in Media

This is a report from the AIM Center for Investigative Journalism

BLM PosterThe Black Lives Matter movement (BLM) casts itself as a spontaneous uprising born of inner city frustration, but is, in fact, the latest and most dangerous face of a web of well-funded communist/socialist organizations that have been agitating against America for decades. Its agitation has provoked police killings and other violence, lawlessness and unrest in minority communities throughout the U.S. If allowed to continue, that agitation could devolve into anarchy and civil war. The BLM crowd appears to be spoiling for just such an outcome.

Nevertheless, BLM appears to be exercising considerable leverage over the Democratic Party, in part by pressuring and intimidating Democratic candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders (VT) into embracing their cause. The movement could also assist President Obama’s exploitation of racial divisions in society beyond his final term in office.

This report examines in detail, for the first time, how communist groups have manipulated the cause of Black Lives Matter, and how money from liberal foundations has made it all possible.

Leftist Origins

Exploiting blacks to promote Marxist revolution is an old tactic. The late Larry Grathwohl, former FBI informant in the Weather Underground, understood from personal experience how white communists exploited blacks and other minority groups. He said that Weather Underground terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn regarded Barack Obama, whose political career they sponsored, as a tool—a puppet—to use against white America. Obama’s legacy at home will certainly include more racial division.

BLM launched in 2013 with a Twitter hashtag, #BlackLivesMatter, after neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman was acquitted in the Trayvon Martin killing. Radical Left activists Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi claim credit for the slogan and hashtag. Following the Michael Brown shooting in August 2014, Dream Defenders, an organization led by Working Families Party (ACORN) activist and Occupy Wall Street anarchist Nelini Stamp, popularized the phrase “Hands Up–Don’t Shoot!” which has since become BLM’s widely recognized slogan.

Garza, Cullors and Tometi all work for front groups of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), one of the four largest radical Left organizations in the country. The others are the Communist Party USA (CPUSA), Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), and the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS). Nelini Stamp’s ACORN—now rebranded under a variety of different names—works with all four organizations, and Dream Defenders is backed by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the ACLU, the Southern Poverty Law Center and others.

FRSO is a hereditary descendant of the New Communist Movement, which was inspired by Mao and the many communist revolutions throughout the world in the 1960s and 1970s. FRSO split into two separate groups in 1999, FRSO/Fight Back and FRSO/OSCL (Freedom Road Socialist Organization/Organizaci?n Socialista del Camino para la Libertad). Black Lives Matter and its founders are allied with the latter group. Future references to FRSO in this article refer to FRSO/OSCL.

FRSO is comprised of dozens of groups. The radical Left model is based on alliances of many organizations that are working on separate issues but dedicated ultimately to the same thing: overthrowing our society in order to replace it with a hardcore socialist (read communist) one.

The goal is to present the appearance of a formidable mass of organizations. Some are large, but many are little more than a website or Facebook page. When necessary, they can all come together to promote the cause du jour. The deaths of Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown and others were mere pretexts for socialist agitation. The real enemy is “the system.” This is why the BLM crowd denies the facts of those cases. As Stamp has said, “we are actually trying to change the capitalist system we have today because it’s not working for any of us.”

BLM is one of many projects undertaken by the FRSO. Except for the website, blacklivesmatter.com, there is no actual organization. The website implicitly acknowledges this, describing #BlackLivesMatter as “an online forum intended to build connections between Black people and our allies to fight anti-Black racism, to spark dialogue among Black people, and to facilitate the types of connections necessary to encourage social action and engagement.”

FRSO membership is disproportionately represented by blacks, gays and women, and self-consciously emphasizes those issues. Garza, who penned a “Herstory” of BLM, is a “queer,” black veteran activist involved in numerous FRSO organizations. Her resumé includes:

Cullors describes herself as a “working class, queer, black woman.” She claims the country killed her father, a drug addict. At a 2015 Netroots Nation conference, Cullors led chants shouting, “If I die in police custody, burn everything down… rise the fuck up! That is the only way motherfuckers like you will listen!” Cullors founded and directs Dignity and Power Now (DPN), which claims to seek “dignity and power of incarcerated people, their families, and communities.”

Cullors was trained by Eric Mann, a former Weather Underground leader who exhorts followers to become “anti-racist, anti-imperialist” activists. Mann runs another FRSO front, the Labor/Community Strategy Center. Like most professional leftists, he makes good money—over $225,000 annually—living in “the system” he advocates destroying.

Tometi is the daughter of illegal aliens from Nigeria. While in college, she worked for the ACLU defending illegal aliens against “vigilantes” opposed to illegal immigration. She is currently the executive director of Black Alliance for Just Immigration (BAJI).

The Funding

FRSO/BLM organizations are generously supported by a universe of wealthy foundations. Some, like those employing BLM founders Garza and Tometi, receive money directly. Others, like Cullors’ DPN, are financed by organizations designed specifically to underwrite the activities of others. Amounts reflect donations received over approximately the past decade.

NDWA (Garza)—2013 revenues were $5.5 million. The NDWA board includes two members of CASA de Maryland, the Illegals’ version of ACORN. CASA also received a grant from NDWA in 2013, as did the radical Left Institute for Policy Studies. NDWA receives funding from the following foundations:

NDWA

POWER (Garza)—2013 revenues were $456,676, including $92,173 in government grants. POWER evolved from the now defunct communist groupSTORM (Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement). Obama’s former “Green Jobs Czar” the self-described communist, Van Jones, served on STORM’s board.

POWER

RTTC (Garza)—2013 revenues were $248,190. RTTC is a nationwide network of activist organizations that resists the gentrification of inner cities because it displaces “low-income people, people of color, marginalized LGBTQ communities, and youths of color…”

RTTC

SOUL (Garza)—Despite its small size (2013 revenues at $110,304), SOUL claims to have trained 679 organizers in 2013.

SOUL

BAJI (Tometi)—2013 revenues were $321,570. This modest organization only lists two full-time staff, yet receives support from many recognizable foundations.

BAJI

Cullors’ DPN is underwritten by Community Partners, a Los Angeles based non-profit with a $24 million budget (including $4 million in government grants) that fiscally sponsors non-profits. It is not an FRSO organization.

Advancement Project (AP)—an FRSO group that funds a variety of radical causes. AP sees America as a racist, oppressive nation and, according to Discover the Networks, “works to organize ‘communities of color’ into politically cohesive units while disseminating its leftist worldviews and values as broadly as possible by way of a sophisticated communications department.” Its 2013 revenues were $11.3 million.

Advancement Project

Movement Strategy Center (MSC)—also facilitates funding, development and advancement of FRSO organizations. Its 2013 revenues were $7.5 million, including $156,032 in government grants.

MSC

The Return of Van Jones

Mainstream funders have helped fund BLM as well. For example, United Way has partnered with A&E and iHeartMedia to create Shining the Light Advisors, a committee of “nationally known experts and leaders in racial and social justice,” to oversee grant disbursements. These “advisors” include such radicals as Van Jones, Advancement Project co-director Judith Browne Dianis, and Rinku Sen, president of the Applied Research Center (ARC).

Fergusl FRSO BannerBLM’s mission includes a kitchen sink of favored radical Left causes, including support of poverty elimination programs, prison deinstitutionalization, illegal immigration and gay rights. Highlighting FRSO’s orientation toward gay blacks, it describes how “Black, queer and trans folks bear a unique burden from a hetero-patriarchal society that disposes of us like garbage and simultaneously fetishizes us and profits off of us, and that is state violence.”

Its wide network of affiliates and partner organizations like CPUSA and ACORN allows BLM to turn out large crowds. Many participate simply to protest, commit violence, loot or all three.

FRSO was prominent at the Ferguson protests and videoed the event. It has even created a Black Lives Matter button. Following are more FRSO organizations involved with BLM. (Funding estimates provided when known).

  • Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) is a “national network of groups and individuals organizing White people for racial justice.” SURJ quotes Garza saying that “We need you defecting from White supremacy and changing the narrative of White supremacy by breaking White silence.
  • Strategic Concepts in Organizing and Policy Education (SCOPE)—Its 2013 revenues were $2.8 million. Led by Anthony Thigpenn, a former Black Panther and board member of the Apollo Alliance. Apollo is the secretive alliance of labor, environment and other Left activists that formulated Obama’s trillion dollar “stimulus” plan. Board member Van Jones described Apollo “as sort of a grand unified field theory for progressive Left causes.” It is now a project of theBlue Green Alliance.

SCOPE

Obama handshakeBLM groups have also joined with CPUSA,CCDS, DSA, SEIU, Color of Change and many others. Anarchist and top OWS organizer Lisa Fithian, who orchestrated the 1999 Seattle World Trade Organization riots, trained Ferguson protesters. Fithian says “Create crisis, because crisis is that edge where change is possible.”

Fithian echoes Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven—creators of the infamousCloward/Piven Crisis Strategy—who spent decades attempting to provoke ghetto blacks to riot, because “Poor people can advance only when ‘the rest of society is afraid of them.’” Rasheen Aldridge, seen above meeting President Obama, was a leader of the Ferguson protests. He has participated in numerous CPUSA events in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Another prominent CPUSA member active in BLM protests is Michael McPhearson, who leads the Don’t Shoot Coalition.

Carl Davidson and Pat Fry, co-chairs of CCDS, exploited the revolutionary atmosphere of the Ferguson riots to create an eight-point plan for “Left Unity” demanding “a common aspiration for socialism.”

CCDS Black-Lives-Matter

CCDS photo of BLM protesters

Missourians Organizing for Reform and Empowerment (MORE) is Missouri’s rebranded ACORN group. It created an illustrative chart offering a snapshot of the Left’s grievance agenda. Capitalism is always the problem. Socialism is always the solution.

Corporate Capitalism

Interestingly, MORE doesn’t believe in socialism when it is footing the bill. MORE promised to pay Ferguson protesters $5,000/month to hang out and cause trouble. But just as ACORN stiffed its employees while preaching socialist generosity, MORE stiffed the protesters.

Islamist organizations have also jumped on the BLM bandwagon, reminding us of the unholy alliance that exists between them and the radical Left. In September 2015, the Muslim Brotherhood front-group Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) joined BLM activists in storming California Governor Jerry Brown’s office. CAIR also participated in the Ferguson protests. Meanwhile ISIS is recruiting American blacks for its cause.

Intellectual Genealogy of Black Lives Matter

“We must be ready to employ trickery, deceit, law-breaking, withholding and concealing truth… We can and must write in a language which sows among the masses hate, revulsion, and scorn toward those who disagree with us.”—Vladimir Lenin

That quote from the Soviet Union’s first leader captures the entire essence of the Left’s strategy. No matter what the issue, no matter what the facts, the Left advances a relentless, hate-filled narrative that America is irredeemably evil and must be destroyed as soon as possible. The BLM movement is only the latest but perhaps most dangerous variant on this divisive theme.

Communists use language and psychology as weapons. Their constant vilification is a form of psychological terror. It puts America and Americans on trial. The verdict is always guilty. Facts don’t matter because the Left does not want to resolve the problems they complain about. They use those problems to agitate and provoke, hoping conflict becomes unavoidable—thereby creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. Their hatred is tactical.

Obama’s favorite Harvard professor Derrick Bell devised Critical Race Theory, which exemplifies Lenin’s strategy as applied to race. According to Discover the Networks:

“Critical race theory contends that America is permanently racist to its core, and that consequently the nation’s legal structures are, by definition, racist and invalid … members of “oppressed” racial groups are entitled—in fact obligated—to determine for themselves which laws and traditions have merit and are worth observing…”

Bell’s theory is in turn an innovation of Critical Theory—developed by philosophers of the communist Frankfurt School. The school was founded in Frankfurt, Germany in 1923. Its Jewish communist scholars fled Hitler’s Germany in the 1930s, relocating to Columbia Teachers College in New York. Critical Theory—which discredits all aspects of Western society—rapidly infected the minds of newly-minted college professors, who then spread its poison throughout the university system. We know it today as political correctness.

White Privilege

The “racist” narrative was turbocharged with the concept of “White Privilege,” the notion that whites—the dominant group in capitalist America—are irretrievably racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, fill-in-the-blank-ophobic, imperialistic oppressors who exploit everyone. Whites are the only true evil in the world andshould be exterminated.

Race TraitorThe “White Skin Privilege” idea was created in 1967 by Noel Ignatiev, an acolyte of Bell and professor at Harvard’s W.E.B. Du Bois Institute (Du Bois was a Communist black leader who helped found the NAACP). Ignatiev was a member of CPUSA’s most radical wing, the Maoist/Stalinist Provisional Organizing Committee to Reconstitute the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party (POC). POC was the intellectual forerunner to FRSO.

Writing under the alias Noel Ignatin, Ignatiev co-authored an SDS pamphlet with fellow radical Ted Allen, titled White Blindspot. In 1992 he co-founded Race Traitor: Journal of the New Abolitionism. Its first issue coined the slogan, “Treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity.” Its stated objective was to “abolish the white race.” More specifically, the New Abolitionist newsletter stated:

“The way to abolish the white race is to challenge, disrupt and eventually overturn the institutions and behavior patterns that reproduce the privileges of whiteness, including the schools, job and housing markets, and the criminal justice system. The abolitionists do not limit themselves to socially acceptable means of protest, but reject in advance no means of attaining their goal (emphasis added).”

But do not be confused; “White” does not mean white. “White” in radical construction means anyone of any race, creed, nationality, color, sex, or sexual preference who embraces capitalism, free markets, limited government and American traditional culture and values. By definition, these beliefs are irredeemably evil and anyone who aligns with them is “white” in spirit and thus equally guilty of “white crimes.” Ignatiev still teaches, now at the Massachusetts College of Art.

The Black Lives Matter movement carries this narrative to unprecedented heights, claiming that only whites can be racists. And while justifying violence to achieve “social justice,” the movement’s goal is to overthrow our society to replace it with a Marxist one. Many members of the black community would be shocked to learn that the intellectual godfathers of this movement are mostly white Communists, “queers” and leftist Democrats, intent on making blacks into cannon fodder for the revolution.

Obama’s Middle East Policies Dictated by Phony Iran Deal

By: Roger Aronoff
Accuracy in Media

The Obama administration continues to capitulate to Iran’s demands in order to ensure that an unworkable, unsigned international agreement somehow restrains that regime’s quest for nuclear weapons. The media are also working overtime to make sure that Obama’s White House isn’t embarrassed by its repeated concessions to Iran.

“Hours after circulating a draft of proposed sanctions on Wednesday…the White House did not provide a timetable or even say that they would be put into effect,”reported The New York Times on December 31. In reality, the administration sent multiple messages retracting an earlier Treasury Department statement. The first one, according to The Wall Street Journal on January 2, said that the sanctions announcement would be delayed for “a few hours.” By late that evening the decision had been delayed indefinitely.

The initial administration release contained strong language about holding Iran accountable. “We have consistently made clear that the United States will vigorously press sanctions against Iranian activities outside of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action—including those related to Iran’s support for terrorism, regional destabilization, human rights abuses, and ballistic missile program,” stated the Treasury’s acting under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, Adam Szubin, in the retracted release, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

Chris Wallace asked Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, on Fox News Sunday on January 10th, if they are “going to punish Iran for violating the ballistic missile testing, or not?” During the testy exchange, McDonough replied, “We will issue those sanctions and those designations at the appropriate time. There’s no question about it.”

The Wall Street Journal covered for Obama’s misstep by citing U.S. officials who claimed the administration was carefully avoiding undermining Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s influence—since they view him as a moderate force in the government. He may seem that way, relative to his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, but there is no daylight between Rouhani and the ayatollahs, who are ultimately in control. Rather, the back-tracking was the result of Iran’s belligerent blackmailing efforts. According to The Wall Street Journal, “…Iranian President Hassan Rouhani publicly ordered his military to dramatically scale up the country’s missile program if the sanctions went ahead.”

The Times reported several days earlier that the shipment of much of Iran’s low-enriched uranium to Russia marked “one of the biggest achievements in his [Obama’s] foreign policy record…” However, it failed in that December 31 article to cover some Democrats’ angry reaction to the administration’s bait and switch on sanctions toward Iran.

“I believe in the power of vigorous enforcement that pushes back on Iran’s bad behavior,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) said, according to the Free Beacon. “If we don’t do that, we invite Iran to cheat.”

The Obama administration has done nothing but invite the Iranian regime to cheat, and the mainstream media continue to refuse to report on each of Obama’s concessions. As we recently reported, there is, actually, no deal—just a set of unsigned political agreements between the P5+1 and Iran. And early on, the Obama administration abandoned several principles that it had promised would be part of the deal, such as no Iranian right to enrich uranium, and anytime, anywhere inspections of suspected nuclear sites.

By December 15, Iran was expected to account for the possible military dimensions of its nuclear program. Instead, Iran tested two missiles, one in October and another in November, in violation of UN Security Resolution 1929. Iran also provided its own samples from the Parchin military site to International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors. When the head of the IAEA, Yukiya Amano, visited Parchin in September, he found an empty building devoid of equipment.

Yet The UK Guardian reports: “Once the [P5+1] deal takes effect, Iran will still be ‘called upon’ not to undertake any ballistic missiles work designed to deliver nuclear weapons for a period of up to eight years, according to a security council resolution adopted in July right after the nuclear deal.”

The Guardian continues, reporting that “Iran says the resolution would only ban missiles ‘designed’ to carry a nuclear warhead, not ‘capable of,’ so it would not affect its military programme as Tehran does not pursue nuclear weapons.”

That the Obama administration allows the Iranian government to get away with making semantic arguments is not only dangerous, it also represents what a farce this unsigned deal has always been. Iran continues to diplomatically delay and split hairs as the Obama administration bends over backward to grant this regime the power to make this agreement mean whatever it wishes.

Back in October, President Obama signaled he would veto a House-passed bill that would have forced Iran to pay damages to the victims of terror attacks before receiving U.S. sanctions relief. This bill now languishes in the Senate.

Federal District Court Judge George Daniels found in December 2011 that Iran and Hezbollah “materially and directly supported al Qaeda in the September 11, 2001 attacks and are legally responsible for damages to hundreds of family members of 9/11 victims who are plaintiffs in the case.”

The $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill passed by Congress and signed by the President last month did create a fund for some of Iran’s victims, but that fund is financed through dollars taken from the French bank BNP Paribas and “the auction of the 650 Fifth Ave., the $500 million office building owned by Iran and confiscated by the courts to pay terror victims,” according to The New York Daily News. “That would include the victims of the Beirut bombings of U.S. outposts in 1983 and 1984 and their families, as well as the twin 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. It should also cover victims of the deadly 1993 World Trade Center attack.”

In other words, Obama is willing to help the American victims of Iranian terror so long as his legacy is not threatened by such efforts. Once Iran gets, or perhaps acknowledges having, nuclear weapons, it could be too late—but this will likely happen on another administration’s watch. Then President Obama can claim that it wasn’t his fault that Iran went nuclear.

Iran has responded by introducing a bill in their parliament “demanding compensation from the United States for what they claim are ‘damages inflicted’ to the Iranian people over the past four decades. ‘In order to redeem the rights of the Iranian nation, the Administration is obliged to take necessary legal measures on receiving compensations and damages from the American government’ for its past actions, the draft legislation outlines,” according to Ilan Berman, writing for U.S. News and World Report. Don’t be surprised if the Obama administration seeks to accommodate this latest Iranian grievance.

Added Berman, “You have to give the Iranians credit for audacity. Having just negotiated a nuclear deal with the West overwhelmingly favorable to its interests, the Islamic Republic is wasting no time in pressing the diplomatic advantage still further.”

In the meantime, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia, and Bahrain have cut diplomatic ties with Iran. “Kuwait recalled its ambassador, the UAE downgraded its ties, and Oman and Qatar condemned the attacks,” according to the AFP. Iranians had recently attacked a Saudi Embassy in Tehran after Saudi Arabia executed a Shia cleric.

Saudi Arabia is also racing to produce 1.5 million barrels of excess oil a day before it faces Iranian competition, fostering greater tensions between these Sunni and Shia rivals.

“The Obama White House is allowing, encouraging, enabling an extraordinarily dangerous situation to develop in the Middle East right now,” said Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi member and former CIA officer Clare Lopez. This is happening, she stated, “specifically, by helping jihadist Iran to become a nuclear weapons state capable of delivering those weapons by ballistic missiles not just to the surrounding region, but to Europe and even [the contiguous United States] at this point.”

While the complicit media look the other way, President Obama’s repeated concessions are frightening America’s allies and creating dangerous developments abroad.

“One single [electromagnetic pulse] EMP is all it takes and America is done,” Lopez stated. “Nor is it unthinkable that the Shi’ite Iran vs. Sunni Saudi Arabia war for regional dominance could at some point go nuclear.”

Don’t look for the mainstream media or President Obama to let the prospect of endangering the entire world hang heavy on their consciences.

Ukraine Still Fights for Freedom

By: Cliff Kincaid
Accuracy in Media

With the 88th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles approaching, freedom lovers are cheering for the Netflix film, “Winter on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom,” which is being considered for an Academy Award in the category of Best Foreign Documentary. “Winter on Fire” is an inspiring story of a former Soviet republic resisting incorporation in the new Russian empire and seeking membership in the Free World. It’s a story whose ending is still in doubt.

The trailer captures the intensity of the entire film, as a young boy is shown putting his life on the line and calling home, telling his mom, “I love you.” He did not know whether he would live or die in the face of the regime’s armed thugs, and the security police beating and killing peaceful protesters.

Vladimir Putin’s puppet, Viktor Yanukovych, had won election as president of Ukraine by promising close ties to the West—but he secretly negotiated a deal to bring the former Soviet republic back into Moscow’s sphere of influence. The people of Ukraine were betrayed, and then revolted in a series of protests that will go down in history as the Ukrainian revolution of 2014. It is also known simply as Euromaidan, named for the pro-European tilt of the protests and the central square in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev, where the demonstrations began.

The film shows people of all ages and backgrounds taking to the streets, wearing pots and pans as helmets, filling sandbags with snow and ice to make barricades to keep the regime’s forces at bay. There are graphic scenes of the injured and dead. Still, the demonstrators kept coming back, day after day. The people had nothing but will and determination to be free of Russian influence. In the end, after 93 days of protest, at least 125 people were killed, 65 were missing and 1,890 had been injured.

The American director, Evgeny Afineevsky, was born in Russia but won’t be returning there anytime soon because of the obvious danger to his life. He emigrated to Israel, where he was raised and educated, before coming to the United States. “I haven’t been to Russia for a couple of years and I am not planning to go there at the moment,” he says. “I am probably not a welcome guest there. But there are filmmakers everywhere and all of us deserve freedom of expression and freedom of speech.”

Of course, the story of the anti-Soviet/Russian protests in Ukraine does not have a completely happy ending. Putin responded with a Russian invasion of Ukraine, a struggle that continues as the Ukrainian government continues to plead for weapons for self-defense. President Obama has turned a deaf ear and blind eye to their pleas.

Putin’s invasion had to be based in part on the knowledge that if a revolution could depose his crony in Ukraine, it could also happen to him. Indeed, it was an opportunity for the U.S. government, if Obama had been so inclined, not only to support Ukraine’s bid for independence but to seek regime-change in Moscow. Instead, Obama continued his soft-on-Russia policy that has also led to Russian military intervention propping up the Syrian dictatorship.

Nevertheless, the protests have pushed forward a process of “de-communization” in the parts of Ukraine not under Russian occupation. Volodymyr Viatrovych, the historian who serves as director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory, spoke about the process last November at the Kennan Institute of the Wilson Center, outlining a series of laws that have been passed by the new Parliament and signed by new President Petro Poroshenko to eliminate communist and totalitarian influence in society. The laws honor the memory of Ukrainian freedom fighters, authorize access to the archives of the communist regime, and ban the use of both communist and Nazi symbols. As a result, the Communist Party of Ukraine has been outlawed.

Hundreds of Lenin monuments or statues have been torn down, with Viatrovych noting that Ukraine had been the “most Leninized” part of the old Soviet Union. One statue of Lenin was converted into Darth Vader. Streets, squares and state enterprises named after communist figures are being renamed as part of this process.

Beyond tearing down communist statues and removing Soviet symbols, the Ukraine Crisis Media Center has published an infographic on communism’s victims, estimated at 100 million, and asking for a “Nuremberg-2,” a follow-up to the original Nuremberg tribunals that exposed the Nazis for their crimes and brought them to justice. This time, the hope is that communists will be brought to justice, including figures such as Vladimir Putin, the former Soviet KGB spy who continues to celebrate Russia’s Soviet past. Another infographic demonstrates how Ukraine’s neighbors have succeeded or failed to overcome their communist pasts. In Russia, for example, the Communist Party was banned in 1991, then restored, and is now a major force in the Russian parliament. It maintains friendly relations with Putin’s United Russia Party.

Tragically, both Republican and Democratic administrations in the U.S. have accepted the fiction that Putin was a new and modern Russian leader. It was that flawed bipartisan approach that gave Russia Permanent Normal Trade Relations status in 2012.

The estimated number of people killed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion has now exceeded 8,000. In addition to this carnage, pro-Russian terrorists shot down a Malaysian airplane over eastern Ukraine, killing nearly 300 people.

David J. Kramer, former president of Freedom House, says, “Congress has passed several pieces of legislation by large bipartisan majorities calling for the provision of lethal arms to Ukraine, and virtually every member of the Cabinet as well as his vice-president support such a step; President Obama is the lone holdout…”

By this point, the explanation for this state of affairs is an old story. As a young man in Hawaii, Obama was mentored by a pro-Russian communist, Frank Marshall Davis, who taught him that “Red Russia” was a savior of the world’s oppressed peoples. Obama mocked 2012 GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney for calling Russia a geo-political threat.

If anything, Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner in the 2016 contest, is to the left of Obama. He told a Ukraine conference in September that their nation was invaded because “there is no respect for the United States” and “Putin does not respect our president whatsoever.” He also insisted Ukraine was a European problem. The comments were considered so weak, in terms of pledging American support for Ukraine’s freedom and independence, that Trump was named by one Ukraine website as a “Kremlin agent.” This was before AIM disclosed Trump’s business connections to the Putin regime.

Perhaps Trump can take some time off the campaign trail to watch “Winter on Fire.”

Our Weasel Of The Week Nominees!! – 01/12/16

The Watcher’s Council

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/89/256833910_dc5e794df2.jpg

It’s time once again for the Watcher’s Council’s ‘Weasel Of The Week’ nominations, where we pick our choices to compete for the award of the famed Golden Weasel to a public figure who particularly deserves to be slimed and mocked for his or her dastardly deeds during the week. Every Tuesday , tune in for the Weasel of the Week nominations!

Here are this weeks’ nominees…

http://morungexpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Sean-Penn.jpg
Hollywood Wack Job And Dictator/Psychopath Groupie Sean Penn!!

The Noisy Room: I nominate Sean Penn for hearting every dictator and commie under the sun. His latest is El Chapo, who he inadvertently helped capture because he was interviewing him for a magazine that would make the drug pin look like some kind of hero. Then Penn jetted off to North Korea to pal around with another psychopath. What about violating the Logan Act? Don’t we charge anyone with treason anymore? Geez.

Penn has met with one of Saddam Hussein’s top aides, then-Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz. Penn’s opposition to the Iraq war led him to bond with the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, an ardent socialist who once suggested that the actor would make a great ambassador to his country. Penn’s other forays into political activism include his foul-mouthed call for the impeachment of President George W. Bush when he won the first Christopher Reeve First Amendment Award in 2006. He also has a fondness for the Castro brothers. Finally, he is buds with the Russians who are touting that he helped capture El Chapo. Uh no. That’s not what happened. However, for being a commie Hollywood weasel, I wouldn’t want Penn to go home empty handed – give him a golden weasel. Twice.

The Obama State Department!!

Fausta’s Blog: The Weasel of the Week is the Obama administration, for shipping a Hellfire missile to Cuba,

  • in early 2014
  • which its manufacturer, Lockheed, noticed “was missing”in June of that year
  • and ended up in Cuba
  • during the time the Obama administration was finalizing its negotiations for easing relations with the Communist dictatorship, but didn’t demand the missile back
  • and instead removed Cuba from the states sponsors of terrorism list
  • and went right ahead with the easing.

But wait! There’s more:

  • Some members of Congress were told.
  • The State Dept. does not deny that the U.S. may have sold the missile to Cuba.

And now, “nobody’s sure” of the missile’s whereabouts, but one can’t rule North Korea among the possibilities,

Makes the Sean Penn movie deal disguised as a Rolling Stone mag interview with El Chapo – the most blood-thirsty drug lord of this century so far – look like a plot for a Disney movie.

Sweden’s Anti-Semitic Foreign Minister Margot Wallström!!

JoshuaPundit:  Ahhh, when in doubt blame Israel. And by extension, the Jews of course.

Margot Wallström is the rabidly socialist Foreign minister of Sweden. She claims to be a ‘feminist’ who favors ‘democracy’ but was instrumental in getting Sweden to recognize ‘Palestine’, a country without borders as a ‘state.’ Palestine, by the way, is a place where a kleptocrat dictator named Mahmoud Abbas is now in year 11 of a four-year-term, where what passes for law is based on sharia and where things like honor killings, torture, and the oppression of women occur with distressing regularity. But hey, let’s not mention any of that. Because it’s all the fault of Israel! Or so you would think if you listened to Minister Wallström.

She got major headlines back in November by immediately blaming the Paris attacks on Israel and ‘the occupation’ something ISIS didn’t even do. In response to that one, Israel summoned Sweden’s ambassador to the Jewish state for an urgent meeting with Israeli Foreign Ministry Director-General Dore Gold, calling the Swedish minister’s remarks “brazen,” “shocking,” and “hostile.”

A few weeks later, she accused Israeli security forces of carry out extra-judicial killings in defending themselves and others against – wait for it – Arabs whom call themselves Palestinians whom were actually in the process of murdering as many Israelis as possible in vicious terrorist attacks.

Her latest bon mot? Today, after Swedish member of parliament Jan Björklund challenged her frequent obsession with Israel as being unfair and said that it had damaged Sweden’s diplomatic efforts in the region, she doubled down, saying, “It is vital that there is a thorough, credible investigation into these deaths in order to clarify and bring about possible accountability.” Obviously she has no interest in investigating the role of incitement and collusion by Abbas and the PLO for ‘possible accountability’ as a cause of the deaths of Israelis.

Israel’s foreign office denounced her remarks as “irresponsible and delusional”, but I found former israel foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman’s comments to be the most apropos: “The only thing the foreign minister of Sweden hasn’t done is physically join the Palestinian terrorists and stab Jews.”

Quite the Weasel, Ms. Wallström!

Well, there it is. What a despicable group of  Weasels… ANY OF THEM COULD WIN! Check back Thursday to see which Weasel walks off with the statuette of shame!
