While Anarchists Fail, Americans Prevail

By: Joan Swirsky | Canada Free Press

On Christmas Eve in 2009, 60 Senate Democrats voted for Obamacare, which was finally voted on again by the House, passed and enacted into law on March 23, 2010. It was only two months into Barack Obama’s first term when they magically produced the exhaustively detailed, 2,300-page bill. But it turns out it wasn’t magic.

The leftists in Congress (Democrats all) had been working on their long-yearned-for Socialized Medicine for decades, just as they’ve worked––even harder––for the past four years to topple candidate and then President Donald J. Trump, who has so far succeeded in overturning, reforming, even eviscerating just about everything liberals/leftists/regressives have fought for, given money to, taught their children, and voted for over the past 60 years.

What we’ve learned from their treachery is that Democrats always have backup plans, contingency strategies waiting in the wings, almost as if they are counting on failure.

SO MANY PLANS, SO LITTLE TIME

Plan A was to utilize all the seditious and traitorous bad actors Barack Obama had put into the highest positions of Justice, State, Intelligence, et al––the FBI, the CIA, the DNI, the DOJ, on and on—in order to fabricate malicious stories about the president, wiretap his phones, enact sting operations on his advisers, and enlist the fake-news media to prove that candidate and then President Trump colluded with the Russians to win the 2016 election.

Result: Failure.

Plan B was to flood the airwaves––and the country––with the framing of the president’s first choice as National Security Advisor, Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, by 37 (and counting) crooked Obama Officials. In May 2020, the Justice Department dropped all charges against Flynn, but a leftist federal court judge has placed the matter on hold leading to the speculation that he is hoping that a Biden Justice Dept. will revive it. Nevertheless….

Result: Failure

Plan C was to enlist lawyer Michael Avenetti to claim that his client, call girl Stormy Daniels, had an affair with the president, a claim she has since denied –– “it never happened.” Once again the anti-Trump forces relied on the craven fake-news media to lend the accusation credibility.

Result: Failure.

Plan D was to accuse the president of asking the Ukrainian president to look into the corruption of Presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son Hunter when Biden was VP of the U.S., a travesty that Patricia McCarthy spells out extensively, concluding, “If anyone needed to be impeached, it was virtually all of the top dogs of the Obama administration: Holder, Lynch, Rice, Power, Comey, McCabe, et al. and of course Biden as well.”

Result: Failure

Plan E was to impeach the president, supposedly for the same call to the Ukrainian president, an effort historian Victor Davis Hanson calls a coup that relied on at least 10 false premises, including phony whistleblowers who relied on “secondhand water-cooler gossip;” no finding by a special counsel of any felony, collusion or obstruction; the absence of bipartisan support; no high crimes or misdemeanors; the chronic lying of “hyper-partisan” prosecutor Cong. Adam Schiff, et al. This perversion of justice began on Jan. 16, 2020 and concluded on Feb. 5, 2020, with the president’s total acquittal.

Result: Failure

All these crashing failures were designed to be smashing successes that resulted in the removal of President Trump from office. But as I’ve both said and written on many occasions, Democrats are simply not that smart.

WHAT A COINCIDENCE!

Just as the impeachment failure was ending in February, whaddya know? March indeed came in like a lion with the Chinese virus aka Covid-19. And there, front and center, ostensibly helping the president through this crisis, were old-time leftists Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx, significantly concealing their affiliations with the vaccine fetishist Bill Gates and The Clinton Foundation. Check it out here and here.

In addition to citing doomsday mortality numbers that never materialized, their prescription for “flattening the curve” was a virtual shutdown of America:

  • Mandatory sheltering in place,
  • Closing non-essential businesses––except for the gay swingers’ clubs that Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer deemed highly essential,
  • The non-negotiable requirement to wear masks and gloves,
  • Closing all pre-schools to universities,
  • Shutting down all entertainment, sports, restaurants, parks, et al,
  • Forbidding the attendance at any house of worship
  • Cessation of all elective surgeries,
  • Closing of all airports, on and on.

Quick question: Why was there not one micro-question from any media outlet about Bill Gates’ deep involvement with the Netflix docuseries PANDEMIC, which debuted January 22, 2020, right before the Chinese virus hit?

Result: Failure

Plan F is what I call the mini-Martial Law we’ve experienced as a result of the coronavirus, sort of a dress rehearsal for what the deranged and depressed Democrats still had left in their Depose-Trump, Destroy-America arsenal. Suffice it to say that the attempt by the Doctors of Doom to shut down America and destroy its economy earned the following evaluation:

Result: Failure

RUNNING OUT OF TIME

As the country began to open up and the Stock Market started to zoom upward, and as it became crystal clear to even the most rabid partisan that Joe Biden’s cognitive impairment was worsening, Democrat desperation––as evidenced by the irrational behavior and statements of their bought-and-paid-for media whores––escalated precipitously. No one who follows this circus should be surprised at what followed.

Plan G was the well-orchestrated plan––in the works for decades––either to create a false-flag incident that would mobilize radical leftwing forces to wreak their typically destructive havoc or a genuine incident that would inspire outrage and anger from the entire public and political spectrum.

That incident took place on May 25, 2020, when 46-year-old George Floyd from Minneapolis, MN, a black man accused of passing a counterfeit $20 bill, was handcuffed and thrown face down to the ground while white police officer Derek Chauvin––who had 18 complaints against him––pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck, cutting off circulation to his carotid artery while Floyd gasped “I can’t breathe” and pleaded for his life. All this while two other officers helped to restrain Floyd and a fourth stopped onlookers from intervening.

The claim, of course, was that this was a direct result of the systemic racism of police departments throughout the U.S., an accusation writer Heather MacDonald thoroughly disproves. “For the record,” she states, “based on 2019 statistics, the chance of an unarmed black being killed by police is about 1 in every 4 million. There were 10 such incidents in 2019, and as many as half of these involved attacks on police or resisting arrest.”

Quick question: Where is the TIME magazine Person of the Year cover for the individual who took the iPhone video of this incident? Where is the nomination for this person to receive the Nobel Prize? Where are the non-stop lionizing interviews on TV?

What followed is the anarchy and chaos of the last several days and nights with the brazenly anti-Americananti-Semitic and racist Antifa and Black Lives Matter rampaging through American cities and suburbs, destroying businesses, stealing multimillions of dollars of goods, burning cars, defacing monuments, shooting people, throwing the Molotov cocktails and bricks left for them in strategic spots by their fellow thugs, and generally giving the world an up-close, three-dimensional picture of what clinicians call sociopaths and psychopaths.

To me, the entire spectacle has the distinctly noxious whiff of Barack Obama’s Organizing for Action, as spelled out by writer Scott S. Powell, who explains that, “The modus operandi of OFA comes right out of Obama’s support and sympathy for Marxism and his background as a left-wing community organizer. It’s a combination of agitation and propaganda––much like old-style Soviet agitprop, and Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. For Alinsky, the rules start with an ends-justifies-the- means quest for power, which can entail lawbreaking, deception, and concealing the true revolutionary agenda…”

Powell quotes Paul Sperry who presciently wrote in the New York Post: “Obama has an army of agitators––numbering more than 30,000––who will fight his Republican successor at every turn of his historic presidency…and command them from a bunker less than two miles from the White House.”

“His OFA Washington HQ is now the nerve center that coordinates 250 offices nationwide,” Sperry continued, “which together with its Chicago-based sister organization, the Community Organizing Institute (COI), are planning to facilitate the “training [of] more than 2 million youths in Alinsky street tactics” and carry out plans “to stage 400 rallies across 42 states to attack Trump and Republicans over ObamaCare’s repeal.”

From the looks of things today, it’s clear that they put Obamacare aside for the bigger fish of national chaos and destruction.

It took a few days to coordinate pushback from the White House, but now it is apparent that the rampant thuggery is almost under control––except in the epicenter of horrific leadership, New York City and New York State. In most other places, people are exulting as more and more stores and restaurants open for business, as neighbors pitch in to repair the anarchists’ damage, and as the Stock Market continues a steady climb. Of this plan, too, it can be said:

Result: Failure

EYES & EARS

It was a good thing that the anxiety this uproar called kept people riveted to their TVs for over a week. It meant that millions upon millions of people throughout the U.S. were actual eye-witnesses to the acting-out behavior, destructive impulses, and arrogant attitudes they teach their children never to evince or emulate.

And they all realized that every single politician supporting this thuggery––EVERY.SINGLE.ONE––was a Democrat! It was a guide to tell them who NEVER to vote for in November.

With a Republican White House, Senate and House, President Trump will bring Americans the prosperity, jobs, infrastructure, foreign-policy pacts, and 21st-century marvels of innovation they deserve! Unlike the pitiful record of chronic failure the Democrats have produced, we will once again be able to say:

Result: Success!

Cities Burn, but None Dare Call It Communist Insurrection

By: Trevor Loudon | The Epoch Times

In the past few days, several cities have seen chaotic rioting. Cars and buildings have been torched, looting is rampant and even the Third Police Precinct in Minneapolis was burned as officers abandoned the building. More is to come.

The protests ostensibly began because of the death of George Floyd during an arrest. Systemic racism and police brutality, leftist pundits argue, is to blame.

Some leftists are claiming, as they did during the Occupy Wall Street movement, that the protests have been hijacked by a violent element intent on discrediting the movement.

Conservative commentators, on the other hand, speak of frustration and rage, of a reaction to the claustrophobia of weeks on end lockdown.

They all miss the mark.

The violence since the police-involved death of George Floyd in Minneapolis is a communist-inspired insurrection — nothing more, nothing less.

Democratic Socialists of America

In Minneapolis, the 600-comrade strong Twin Cities local of this country’s largest Marxist organization, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), has been actively supporting rioters and participating in protests.

The DSA, which works closely with Antifa-aligned groups, supported a resolution at its national convention in August to form a “National Working Group to help drive collaboration and resource sharing to support our antifascist organizing.” They say it bluntly: “One foot in the institutions, one foot in the streets.”

On May 27, Twin Cities DSA issued a call on social media for help to comrades for “supplies” at the same intersection where an Auto Zone burnt to the ground later that evening. “Want to help out your comrades protesting the 3rd Precinct at Lake and Minnehaha?” the Marxists posted on Facebook. “Here’s a list of needed supplies from folks on the ground.”

An attached list included medical supplies along with “plywood for shields,” “anything else useful for shielding from cops,” “tennis rackets” and “hockey sticks.” Private cars were also requested: “It sounds like another big need is people able to give rides to people who need to leave the fray.” Is this a call for private ambulances—or getaway cars?

The Twin Cities DSA ecosocialist working group on Twitter wrote to comrades, “Support the ongoing mass working-class uprising!”

Twin Cities DSA also wrote, “Please also give to the TCDSA solidarity fund, because people will need help in the days and weeks ahead!” That means bail money and lawyers fees.

On May 28, the DSA National Political Committee issued an emotionally charged and extremely biased statement in support of the rioters:

“We, the National Political Committee of the Democratic Socialists of America, condemn the public execution of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police. His murder falls into the deeply entrenched pattern of violence, anti-Blackness, and oppression upheld by policing in this country. … This is white supremacy. …

“Racist police violence is not incidental to the capitalist system, it is necessary to maintain its operation. We recognize that as we fight for a better world, it will be the police who threaten our protests, the police who will break up our picket lines, the police who selectively wield their monopoly on violence against Black people and working-class people to protect those with power and privilege. …

“We stand with and share the rage of all those who are making themselves heard on the streets after years of being suffocated by policing and poverty, after years of being looted by corporations, landlords, and billionaires.”

Metro Atlanta DSA was similarly involved in the chaos in Atlanta.

Seattle DSA is also involved. DSA branches in Memphis and Los Angeles held events and are raising funds for “George Floyd Uprisings Nationwide.”

Workers World Party

The Stalinist–Trotskyist Workers World Party (WWP), which supports North Korea, Russia, China, Cuba, and Iran and has chapters in about 15 cities across America, is all over the protests.

WWP’s Monica Moorehead wrote an article May 28 titled, “Against police violence and capitalism, to rebel is justified”:

“Workers World salutes all the brave protesters in Minneapolis, currently ground zero against police terror. We also salute those activists in Los Angeles, Memphis and other cities who are organizing protests and braving the pandemic to be in the streets or in car caravans to show solidarity with the demand: Justice for George Floyd and all victims of police violence.”

Moorehead goes on to quote WWP founder Sam Marcy’s defense of the 1992 Los Angeles riots—in which 63 people died:

“In times when the bourgeoisie is up against the wall, when the masses have risen suddenly and unexpectedly, the bourgeoisie gets most lyrical in abjuring violence. It conjures up all sorts of lies and deceits about the unruliness of a few among the masses as against the orderly law-abiding many.

“Marxism here again cuts through it all. The Marxist view of violence distinguishes between the violence of the oppressors as against the responsive violence of the masses. Just to be able to formulate it that way is a giant step forward, away from disgusting bourgeois praise for nonviolence. It never occurs to any of them to show that the masses have never made any real leap forward with the theory of nonviolence. Timidity never made it in history.”

Revolutionary Communist Party

The Maoist-leaning Revolutionary Communist Party is using the death of George Floyd to call for “a movement for an actual revolution.” They issued communique No. 6 titled, “Police murder after murder after murder… To YOU who are sick and tired of the madness, and ready to be part of a movement for an ACTUAL REVOLUTION”:

“If you’re sick of watching video after video of these murders by police … you need to … join with a movement for an actual revolution, to prepare for a time when it will be possible to lead millions to bring this system down, and replace it with a new society based on the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America.”

Party for Socialism and Liberation

The Marxist-Leninist pro-China, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and Russia Party for Socialism and Liberation has chapters in about 30 states. They also seek to exploit the death of George Floyd, referring to this time in history as an “absolutely critical period” to impose their vision of a communist revolution:

“The police will always fulfill their role of being shock troops for white supremacy and capitalism as long as it exists in this racist state.

“In this absolutely critical period, we sharpen our resolve to build organizations capable of waging militant class struggle against the racist state and their ruling class. … Amidst the deep crisis, the racist killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery in Brunswick, Georgia, Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Ky. and Sean Reed in Indianapolis, Ind., make it clear that the protests and fight back must continue and intensify.”

Long, Hot Summer

Despite overwhelming and abundant evidence that communists are heavily involved in these protests and riots, very few journalists have been willing to expose the truth.

One notable exception is Antifa expert Andy Ngo:

On May 30, Ngo wrote on Twitter:

“We are witnessing glimpses of the full insurrection the far-left has been working on for decades. Within hours, militant Antifa cells across the country mobilized to aid BLM [Black Lives Matter] rioters. The first broken window is the blood in the water for looters to move in. The fires come next.”

Ngo later added:

“Media, politicians, public—all of us—have underestimated the training, purpose & capability of left-wing extremists. Every part of the rioting has a purpose. Fires destroy economy. Riots can overwhelm police & even military. All of it leads to a destabilized state if maintained.”

The DSA now has 66,000 members nationwide and locals in almost every state. Other communist groups such as Communist Party USA, Liberation Road, Socialist Alternative, Workers World Party, Party for Socialism and Liberation, Socialist Unity Party, and Revolutionary Communist Party and their allies in Black Lives Matter and Antifa can mobilize tens of thousands of militants and organizing cadre on short notice.

During the Ferguson riots of 2014, the pro-China Freedom Road Socialist Organization (now Liberation Road) and its allies claim to have brought nearly 10,000 activists into St. Louis, Missouri, to swell the ranks of the rioters.

Without the communists, there would still be occasional racially charged incidents. However, all the major city-burning race riots of the 1960s (Newark, Detroit, Chicago, Watts, and many others) and every single one since have been fanned into something bigger by communist forces.

The U.S. left now has the power to start race riots in nearly every major U.S. city.

Unless forcefully countered, these current riots and protests will go on all summer up until the elections. The twin goals are to stall the U.S. economic recovery and destroy President Donald Trump. In truth, these riots have nothing to do with race and everything to do with regime change and revolution.

Unless resolute action is taken, Americans are in for a long, hot summer. Revolution may be coming to a city near you.

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China’s Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic “Tank Man”

By: Jose Nino | Ammo.com

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China's Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic Tank ManChina is often described as the next superpower to top America within the next few decades. At first glance, such an assertion makes sense. The country’s vast geography, natural resources, rich history, and tech-savvy populace puts it in a position to thrive in the 21st century. However, China’s rise as a superpower is not one of an overnight success, nor is it filled with pretty rainbows.

Indeed, China is one of the world’s longest-lasting civilizations, with cultural and political traditions that have been passed down to succeeding generations effortlessly. With such a vast history, China had gone through its own zeniths and nadirs. As is the nature of any civilization. However, China’s modern history has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least.

Despite having a massive formal governing apparatus that would put many empires to shame, China has not always had full control of its territorial jurisdiction. Once European powers reached Chinese shores in search of riches, they soon wanted their piece of the pie. That meant slowly whittling away at Chinese territory. As the first movers in the Age of Exploration, the Portuguese and their missionaries colonized Macau.

Although the Portuguese’s venture was not exclusively about riches, it inspired other European actors such as the British to go and exploit China’s vast resources. Naturally, the Qing dynasty and Britain’s interests clashed once the British wanted to expand trade inside the country. What was originally a trade dispute between a Qing government wanting to maintain trade that overwhelmingly favored China, soon turned into a full-blown conflict as seen in the Opium War.

China was handed a humiliating defeat, which saw it turn over Hong Kong to the British. This marked a turning point in Chinese history. The once-mighty country slowly deteriorated both internally and externally. China soon became a punching bag for smaller, yet more militarily advanced countries that started setting up trading outposts in Shanghai. Indeed, these moves were not welcome by the Chinese and many in the Qing court, but due to the country’s decaying institutions, it could do nothing to prevent further predations.

Even empires on the Western periphery, like Imperial Russia, started to prey on China when it annexed all of the Chinese land north of the Amur River in 1858, exploiting Chinese weakness along a border that was, at the time, 4,650 miles long. As if China’s foreign reversals weren’t enough, Imperial Japan also jumped in the mix and picked apart China like other European powers. Japan put the world on notice when it crushed China in the Sino-Japanese War of 1894. As a result of this humiliation, Japan added the island of modern-day Taiwan, the Liaodong Peninsula, and the Korean peninsula into its sphere of influence. Japan’s exploitation of its weaker mainland rival did not stop there.

Even after the Qing dynasty collapsed, nationalist leader Chiang Kai-Shek tried to put the political pieces back together during the 1920s, in an attempt to unify the country and restore Chinese greatness. However, Imperial Japan was ready to humiliate China yet again, when it invaded Manchuria in 1931, and occupied it until 1945, in an attempt to expand its industrialization efforts.

All in all, the mid-19th century up until the mid-20th century was a rocky period. It took game-changing events after World War II for China to finally get its political house in order and build itself up on its own terms.

China: From Powerful Imperial Rule to a Weakened State

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China's Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic Tank ManAs foreign powers such as the United States, Germany, Japan, and Russia carved out spheres of influence in the once-mighty empire, the Chinese imperial court began to lose legitimacy both domestically and abroad. In 1911, the Xinhai Revolution was the final straw that broke the Qing dynasty’s back. Chinese reformers grew tired of their country’s weakness and organized revolts across the country that ultimately forced the last Qing emperor, Pu Yi, to abdicate in 1912. However, the transition from empire to a modern-day nation-state was filled with many road bumps for China.

Despite political reformer and provisional president of the Republic of China Sun Yat-sen’s attempts to modernize the Chinese state, the country was quickly mired in internal struggles that prevented it from forming a coherent political structure in the immediate years following the fall of the Qing dynasty. The warlord control of the country soon became the norm as many optimistic Chinese reformers then realized the road to Chinese political stability would not come easy.

The Move to Unify the Chinese State

By the 1920s, China’s political destiny slowly started to change.

It wasn’t until the 1920s that movements began to emerge, with hopes to unify China and establish it as a sovereign nation free of foreign exploitation. The emergence of the Nationalist and Communist movements in China appealed to the nationalistic sentiment among the populace. Their messages, while ideologically different in economic matters, had a vision of restoring China’s rightful place on the world stage. They viewed the Qing dynasty as corrupt and feckless for allowing European powers and Japan to carve out the country. For China to be great, it had to be free of foreign influence.

The dream of a unified China nearly became a reality when the Nationalist (Kuomintang) movement led by Chiang Kai-Shek ended warlord rule and began consolidating the Chinese state. However, hopes of a unified China on both ideological and political lines were temporarily dashed when the Japanese invaded in the 1930s. The subsequent expansion of World War II to the Asian theater saw the previously dominant Nationalist forces having to fend off Japanese forces. Such fighting left the Nationalist forces greatly depleted, while their Communist foes pulled their forces in the Chinese interior.

Little did the Nationalists know that once World War II came to an end, they would be up against a replenished and emboldened Communist movement. And this time around, they would not go down without a fight.

Unifying the Chinese State Under Communism

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China's Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic Tank ManOnce the dust settled from World War II, national unity went out the window. Communist forces under Mao Zedong were ready to duke it out with Chiang Kai-Shek and his Nationalist faction. So began the second phase of the Chinese Civil War (1945-1949). After four years of hard fighting, the Communists defeated the already depleted Kuomintang in 1949. By October 1949, Mao Zedong’s communist government was ready to usher in a new era of consolidated rule in China by declaring the People’s Republic of China. In response, the defeated Nationalists scurried to the island of Formosa, which would be renamed as Taiwan or the Republic of China. Despite China’s stubbornness in de-legitimizing the independent nation on the world stage, Taiwan would remain under the thumb of Chiang Kai-Shek until his death in 1975.

Once in command, Mao was focused on consolidating his internal power and centralizing the Chinese state at the domestic level. The Chinese leader was not so concerned about expanding China’s reach abroad during his first few years as Chairman of the Communist Party. Once his power was firmly established, he then proceeded to make China an industrial power conforming to principles of central-planning. China was no longer going to be the pushover that it once was in the latter half of the 19th century. It was ready to leave its mark on the international stage.

The Omnipresent Chinese Bureaucracy

The Chinese story is one of the eternal conflicts between centralized control and violent regionalism, as noted by Jacob L. Shapiro. Chairman Mao was faced with presiding over a large country with a long history of political violence. China encompasses such a vast territory, which necessitates large, bureaucratic systems to administer it. For political purposes, this bureaucracy has helped China maintain control over its jurisdiction in the short and mid-term. However, in the long-term, this bureaucracy would become unwieldy and parasitic. As a result, high taxation and economic stagnation would follow after this bureaucracy became ingrained in the Chinese political system. This has been a fixture of China’s so-called “Dynastic Cycle,” which appeared to rear its ugly head in modern times. Communist Party elites did not want to become the next generation of leaders who fell victim to this vicious cycle.

Mao despised the Chinese bureaucracy and was able to rip it to shreds when he initially took the helm of the Chinese state. However, when Mao wanted to embark on the Great Leap Forward – an ambitious program created to rapidly change the Chinese industry and agriculture through state planning – he had to come to grips with the reality that he needed bureaucracy to carry out his grandiose vision.

Off to the bureaucratic races China went.

The Great Leap Forward

Fearful of Mao’s punitive actions, Chinese bureaucrats fudged data in order to placate him. What seemed like a political maneuver to gain favor within the government, would later turn out to be a disaster for the people living in the countryside. China’s Great Leap Forward experiment was initially marketed as the program to take China to the next level of economic development. The Great Leap Forward was a concerted effort to collectivize the Chinese economy and hand over the commanding heights to the Chinese state. Private property and a market-based price system were cast aside, while the Chinese central planners tried to play god.

But playing god with the economy comes with a massive price to pay. Even the best central planners are unable to break the laws of economics. Such heavy-handed interventions in the economy destroyed China’s agricultural sector. In turn, the decimation of Chinese agriculture created famine conditions, which led to the deaths of an estimated range of 20 million to 45 million people. The casualties suffered during the Great Leap Forward made China another tragic case of democide, as the country became another casualty of central planning. Consequently, Mao Zedong saw his political image tarnished after this failed socialist experiment, which called into question the validity of his political ideology. But the man-made disaster did not deter him from pursuing other ambitious political programs. Mao was intent on leaving his political mark in China.

The Cultural Revolution

The Cultural Revolution of 1966 to 1976 was Mao’s final attempt to impose a top-down program on the Chinese populace. This ambitious political venture sought to re-assert proletarian values and rid the Chinese society of subversive bourgeois elements. However, this social program turned into a wide-scale political purge that hamstrung economic growth and undermined the civil liberties of millions in China. Like the Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution proved that Mao was too ambitious in socially engineering society according to his grandiose political vision. With two controversial efforts led by the Chinese state to radically transform the nation’s society, China’s political class started to become restless. Even the Communist Party knew that Mao took things too far. It was becoming clear that China was on the verge of falling into political chaos. A new course would need to be taken for the country to advance, lest it becomes another victim of its well established Dynastic Cycle. Several leaders in the Chinese Communist Party were ready to step up to the plate.

Geopolitical Tensions Create New Openings

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China's Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic Tank ManPolitics never occur in a vacuum. Countries’ destinies are often shaped by external events, or at the very least, must adapt to international trends. In its quest to become a global superpower, China was no stranger to this. During the ambitious Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution programs, China was experiencing significant changes in its foreign policy. Communism may have had a unified vision against the bourgeois classes, but it witnessed numerous splits among countries throughout the 20th century. National interests often see ideologically similar countries take antagonistic paths.

The Communist sphere was indeed a house divided once the Chinese state was well established and ready to plot its own course. China’s Soviet “Big Brother” would soon learn that China was ready to grow up and pursue its own agenda. Initially, disputes surrounding debts that China incurred during the Korean War and the border they shared with the Soviet Union caused unrest between the two superpowers. Many Soviet officials saw Mao’s leadership purges as a flashback to the brutal regime of Josef Stalin. As a result, Soviet leadership became weary of their Communist “little brother” down South. In the same token, the Chinese remembered their exploitation at the hands of the Russian Empire in the 19th century. Naturally, they had no interest in repeating the same predatory relationship with its northern neighbor.

Looking from afar, America took advantage of this geopolitical tension by playing China off of the Soviet Union. The first concrete step in undermining the Soviet Union was Nixon’s visit to China in 1972, which helped re-establish diplomatic and trade relations between the two countries. With China now tasting the fruits of international capitalism, albeit to a limited degree, its old economic model of top-down control was on the ropes. Additionally, the failed Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution programs made the more pragmatic elements of the Chinese Communist Party reconsider Maoism. The economic benefits from restored relationships with America were simply too large to ignore. On top of that, the Chinese state could capture unprecedented economic benefits from opening up trade with America. This would enable China to not only grow economically but also strengthen its governing apparatus. The Chinese state was then set for new leadership to emerge and continue integrating China into the global market. The days of Chinese isolation would soon come to an end.

The Economic and Political Transformation of Deng Xiaoping’s China

Once Deng Xiaoping succeeded Mao Zedong, China was poised for national greatness. Deng acknowledged that Maoism did not bring about its desired results for China, and a new economic program was needed to bring the country back to its feet. Now that the Communist Party was well entrenched in power and China was able to pacify any internal threats, the country was ready to interact with the outside world on its own terms. Gone were the days that China would be bullied by the West.

Recognizing the failure of central planning, while also taking into account the economic potential China had on the international stage, Deng Xiaoping embarked on a series of bold reforms. Unlike its humiliating experience of the late 19th century, China was opening up its markets without being the victim of gunboat diplomacy.

Deng’s regime enacted certain reforms that brought back market dynamics, albeit in limited form, to the Chinese economy. Land privatization and the creation of special economic zones helped make China more competitive in the international arena. According to certain reports, China’s annual GDP growth rate ranged from 9.5 to 11.5 percent from 1978 to 2013. Thanks to these market-based reforms, China’s GDP increased tenfold, and, as a result, millions of Chinese were lifted out of poverty. The horrific scenes of the Great Leap Forward soon became a distant memory as skyscrapers dotted illustrious cities like Shanghai, and factories were built left and right to bolster China’s breakneck industrial growth. “Made in China” soon became a staple of China’s economic prowess, as it flooded the world with basic goods coming out of its factories. But this could never have been possible without China making an attempt to open up its markets.

As Milton Friedman observed, economic freedom is generally a precondition for political freedom. When societies see economic freedoms gradually expanded, the new rich and emerging middle classes begin demanding more political freedoms.

As Chinese economic growth soared throughout the 1980s, its citizens demanded more than just economic prosperity. The death of pro-reform Communist leader Hu Yaobang in April 1989, caused several disturbances throughout the country. While on the economic uptick, Post-Mao China was marked by political uncertainty and Hu’s death added more fuel to the fire. Both the general populace and the political elite were rocked by the market reforms of Deng’s regime, which benefited some members of the newly rising entrepreneurial class, but still did not satisfy China’s humbler citizens.

The ruling elite also faced some questions about political legitimacy. Some of the concerns centered around corruption, employment prospects, inflation, and political freedoms. China’s student class started to demand new freedoms such as democracy, transparency in government, and free speech rights among other things. Protests started to pop up throughout the country, with the main ones centering around Tiananmen Square in Beijing.

The Historical Significance of Tiananmen Square

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China's Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic Tank ManHistorically, Tiananmen Square held great significance in Chinese politics. It was the place where the May Fourth Movement of 1919 occurred, when students’ protests aired grievances with the Chinese government’s tepid response to the Treaty of Versailles, which awarded Japan territories in the Shandong province. This movement helped jumpstart the Chinese Communist and Nationalist movements respectively.

Fast forward 30 years, the Proclamation of the People’s Republic of China by Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949, took place on Tiananmen Square as well. This marked the end of the Chinese Communist Revolution (1945-1949) and ushered in the Communist Party’s dominance over Chinese politics.

In 1989, student protestors sought to use this same square as their platform to make history by demanding the introduction of basic civil liberties – such as free speech and the right to peacefully assemble against the government – concepts which were unheard of throughout China’s long political history. In the fateful month of April 1989, they took to the streets in protest. Indeed, these students made history, but things didn’t go as planned for them.

Chinese Leadership Becomes Weary of the Threat of Democratic Reforms

Wanting to preserve the Communist Party’s political supremacy at all costs, China’s paramount leader, Deng Xiaoping, along with his Communist Party brain trust, perceived the protests as a political threat. Wasting no time in responding to these protests, the Chinese government proceeded to use force after the Chinese State Council declared martial law on May 20th, and deployed approximately 300,000 troops to Beijing. When troops arrived in Beijing on June 4th, they began killing protestors and bystanders.

The Chinese government arrested thousands of protesters, cracked down on other demonstrations in the country, kicked out foreign journalists, censored coverage of the Tiananmen incident in the press, bolstered police powers, and purged officials it believed to be receptive to the protestors’ cause. Estimates pin the death toll from several hundred to thousands.

Unsurprisingly, this incident received international condemnation. However, China’s status as a nuclear power and its newfound prosperity positioned it where it could avoid any direct military confrontation from other countries who disapproved of its agenda. Unlike 19th century China, 20th century China could take bold political actions without the fear of international actors trying to directly attack it.

The Birth of Tank Man

The Tiananmen Square Massacre: From China's Authoritarian Roots to the Iconic Tank ManA day after the crackdown, on June 5, 1989, one of the most iconic images from the Tiananmen protests emerged. A man, who would be known as Tank Man or the Unknown Rebel, stood in front of a convoy of tanks leaving Tiananmen Square.

The lead tank tried to maneuver past the man but was met with nonviolent resistance. The man repeatedly shuffled in front of the tank to obstruct the tank’s path. After a while, the lead tank stopped in its tracks and the armored tanks behind it stopped as well. From there, a short pause began with the man and tanks remaining in a standstill.

The video footage then shows the man climbing on top of the tank’s turret and chatting with a crew member and the tank’s commander. After having a conversation, the man jumps back down and gets in front of the tank again. The standoff between the man and tank continued until two figures in blue came out and pulled the man to the side. To this day, witnesses at this event are unsure about who pulled the “Tank Man” to the side. Furthermore, the identity and fate of the man is still unknown, although there has been speculation that he was either executed or fled the country shortly thereafter.

China’s Authoritarianism Lives On

The Tiananmen Square massacre was indeed a turning point in Chinese history. After an unprecedented liberalization of the economy up until the late 1980s, the Chinese state firmly put the breaks on any type of political reform that would enhance political freedoms. China showed the entire world that it would put hard limits on freedom, even if it meant receiving stiff criticism from Western democratic governments. As a sovereign nuclear power, China could proceed with its domestic policy as it pleased, knowing full well that no other world power would try to aggress against it.

To this day, civil liberties that Westerners often take for granted are heavily restricted in China. Under the leadership of Xi Jinping, China has embarked on one of the most ambitious censorship programs in human history. Now the Chinese state is even putting Muslim Uighurs in re-education camps, much to the chagrin of international human rights observers. The Tiananmen incident remains one of the most heavily censored topics in Chinese political discourse.

The iconic image of the man confronting the tanks is a strong symbol of mankind’s eternal struggle to achieve freedom. Despite its fantastic economic growth, China remains one of the more authoritarian countries in the world. Just like freedom did not come to the West overnight, basic freedoms will likely take decades before they firmly take root in China.

Until then, the Chinese state remains firm in its hold over the Chinese populace.

Dear General Mattis and the Other Flag Officers

By: Denise Simon | Founders Code

General Mattis, your op-ed in the Atlantic was repugnant. Let’s review what you purposely overlooked, shall we?

Know your Terrain

It’s the leader’s job to interpret and translate the terrain and operating environment. Know whether you are the bear or the alligator. Leaders must understand their organization’s strengths, weaknesses, and ideal operating terrain before stepping into the fight. There is no “unfair” when dealing with an uncontrollable variable like terrain. Read more here from Sun Tzu on terrain.

You see during the Covid-19 lockdown, America was in fear. The fear doubled and confidence has been shattered with rioting, death, arson, and looting. General, you did not offer a solution. But we are learning all the dynamics of the changing terrain in America and it is ugly.

All Enemies Foreign and Domestic

Our rights as citizens are to be protected and the elite members of our Praetorian Guard are designated as politicians at all levels, law enforcement, and the branches of the military. So to you Generals and Admirals, to the politicians and law enforcement, who is protecting selected voices from censorship? What about illegal searches and surveillance where we are to be secure in our person, papers, and effects? What about our ability to fully protect ourselves from home invasions or burning a building or business where the upper floors are actually apartments? We have gangs operating all over the nation, we have subversive groups doing the same. We have an insurgency upon the country and they are domestic enemies to the general welfare of America. What is your solution if not law and order?

Ungoverned Spaces

You are well aware of places like Idlib, Syria, the Sahel, Libya, Donbas, Ukraine, even the South China Sea and the Strait of Hormuz. General, in America there are thousands of points of ungoverned spaces including public schools, streets in San Francisco, the courthouse steps in Portland, Oregon, or the college campus at Berkeley. In recent days, ungoverned spaces included cities and streets across the nation where police are told to take a light touch all while mayors have released violent criminals from prison, and what would be felony arrests are considered misdemeanors, letting go the criminal within hours with a mere $120 ticket. General, have you considered this chaos? Are you applying strategic thinking to frontier justice where decent Americans will be forced into vigilante justice? Syrians were forced into that just as Libyans are. We have to fend for ourselves, you omitted that part. So, to you, Flag Officers, have you a solution war plan to solve this in America?

Domestic Tranquility

While the intent of the Framers intended to quell uprisings and rebellions between states, domestic tranquility is fleeting. When civil society is challenged and criminal behavior goes unpunished, established justice is broken. Peaceful demonstrations are events where the demonstrators put forth their grievances. That is a wonderful and endorsed right. When riots, theft, looting, arson, shootings or otherwise physical harm comes to person or property, law and order are fractured. Placing the National Guard at designated locations is to augment law enforcement. If that fails, a higher more assertive remedy is called for including the consideration of the Insurrection Act. There is not a respectable American that wants conditions to reach that point and that includes President Trump. But just like military personnel in the realm of wargaming operations, all consideration must be on the desk and they are. In the case of the civilian population, leaders and law enforcement too must consider all options for the protection of public safety.

So, General Mattis, you are quoted as saying ‘If you cannot create harmony, even vicious harmony on the battlefield based on trust across service lines, across service lines, across coalition and national lines and across civilian/military lines, you need to go home, because your leadership is obsolete.

That harmony you speak of is lost in America, we are divided. So, General sir… just go home, take the other Flag Officers with you.

We are gonna be ‘polite and professional’ in spite of it all, but we are gonna be the guards of our own terrain, personally and professionally and politely.

Clean Up the Drug Crazed Communist Street Rabble

By: Cliff Kincaid

Such notables as Drew Brees and General Mad Dog Mattis sold out to the mob this week. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old girl, Ala’junaye Davis, was killed in Baltimore, shot in the throat in a Democrat-run city whose previous mayor pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy and tax evasion charges in the “Healthy Holly” book fraud scandal. The local paper reports that Baltimore homicides total 135 so far this year, outpacing the 128 recorded at this time last year.

The mob, however, is concerned about the death of George Floyd, a criminal whose carefully hidden autopsy showed traces of meth, fentanyl, marijuana, and heroin. It is not clear what role these drugs played in his death.

With the economy back on track, after re-opening many states, it’s the communist rabble on the streets that poses the most direct threat to the safety and security of the American people. So far, President Trump has depended on the governors to deploy the National Guard.

Tucker Carlson observed on Thursday night that the riots are all about getting rid of Trump. He means that the Democrats running the major cities are allowing the violence to spread so that they can create more chaos that they can blame on Trump.

This strategy helps explain why the dozens of black deaths taking place in our major cities, as a result of black-on-black violence, are of no interest to those who back or excuse the riots and looters.

Crime victim advocate Tina Trent comments, in a blog post about Atlanta, another Democrat-run city, that black-on-black violence accounts for nearly all killings of black youth

Ignoring the realities of life in the big cities, Drew Brees apologized to the mob for a comment defending the American flag, demonstrating that he is a rich football player with no moral backbone. His opinion, one way or another, is of no lasting consequence. But Mad Dog Mattis is a retired general who is clearly angry over getting fired by Trump. He favored using troops in foreign wars to die on behalf of Muslims, but he doesn’t want American troops deployed to put down a communist insurrection inside the United States.

Mark Esper is the current Defense Secretary and has undermined President Trump by declaring his opposition to using the Insurrection Act to suppress mob violence. Esper’s subversion of the concept of civilian authority over the military is a very serious matter. It is reminiscent of the old movie, “Seven Days in May,” when Burt Lancaster plays a rogue general leading a coup against the president. In the film, the president learns of the plot and defeats it.

In real life, Trump defeated a coup led by Barack Hussein Obama’s CIA and is now facing a revolt from Esper over what may be required to clean up the streets.

Another failing in our society is the inability of some major anti-drug groups to take a stand against the riots in society. I am on a list of email exchanges about America’s growing drug problem and some of the organizations have decided to take a stand against the police but not the drugs that drove George Floyd into yet another confrontation with the law. Pictures of some of the “demonstrations” show rioters passing marijuana joints to get high as they get hyped up for another assault on the police.

Attorney David Evans, Senior Counsel to Cannabis Industry Victims Educating Litigators (CIVEL), notes that scientific studies demonstrate a relationship between marijuana and violence. The Weather Underground communist terrorist Bernardine Dohrn once said, “guns and grass are united in the youth underground.” These were the weapons of revolution back then and are still major factors. One has to be blind not to see it.

The use of drugs certainly helps explain the calls to “defund the police” in some cities where liberal governors kept the pot shops open during the lockdown of law-abiding citizens.

But judging by the Department of Justice press conference on Thursday, featuring Attorney General Bill Barr and FBI director Christopher Wray, Trump’s top people seem to have no real understanding of what they are up against. They never once mentioned the word “communist” and did not display any knowledge of the drug use that characterizes some of the protests – and the death of George Floyd himself.

The police in Minneapolis are faced with the drug crisis every day, but the evidence of drugs in George Floyd’s system is denounced as a “red herring” by the lawyers for the family who want to shake down the city for big bucks in their police lawsuit.

The drug problem is so bad in our major cities that TV programs like “Dope” and “Drugs Inc.” are becoming popular. Camera crews follow dealers around the city as they operate open-air drug markets. No wonder a 16-year-old girl in Baltimore can be killed in the crossfire.

The failure to deal with the problem by officials in such cities as Baltimore and Minneapolis has now been extended to people like Mad Dog Mattis, who insists that Trump overreacted in a Nazi-like fashion to peaceful demonstrators. It’s the rioters using Nazi-like tactics. If he can’t see that, he’s as clueless as Joe Biden. One wonders if his lack of real-time intelligence was a factor in America losing wars in the Middle East. If so, his much-vaunted “military service” did not serve America’s interests.

For those serious about saving America, Edwin Vieira, Jr., who has practiced constitutional law, has some very good legal advice. He points out that 10 U.S.C. sec. 253 is the right statute to use, for it authorizes the president to call forth any part of “the militia,” and any part of the Armed Forces (including the National Guard, whether it is called part of “the militia,” or, correctly, State “Troops” under Article I, Section 10, Clause 3, which can be employed as a reserve for the regular Army).

He adds, “There is no requirement under Section 253 that some Governor or other State official approve (which is obvious not only from the text itself but also from the statute’s origin as the enforcement of Section 1 of the Fourteenth Amendment through Section 5 thereof). There are also some very interesting historical parallels that make Section 253 a particularly appropriate vehicle for suppressing insurrections which state and local officials seem willing to tolerate at the expense of their citizens’ rights, privileges, and immunities guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.”

On Tucker Carlson’s Thursday night show, former CIA officer Bryan Dean said America is “on fire” and that “violent leftist thugs” are running around the major cities attacking and killing people and vandalizing buildings. He compared the situation to the time when communist groups were waging war against America in the 1960s and 70s.

He said he thinks the Department of Justice and our police forces understand the situation. Some clearly do, such as the Minneapolis police union chief who says that “terrorist” elements had been emerging in the city for some time while the police force was being decimated and denied the ability to confront the threat.

If the DOJ and FBI really understand the problem, they will advise the president about how he has the complete constitutional authority to order the immediate deployment of troops in our major cities, if the National Guard doesn’t suffice.

This Black American Deems Floyd Protests Unnecessary

By: Lloyd Marcus

As a black American, Democrats and fake news media demand that I agree with the George Floyd protests. I say the protests are unnecessary and are totally politically motivated. The American people of all races including President Trump have expressed their outrage over the wrongful death of Mr. Floyd. The officer who killed Mr. Floyd has been charged with murder. The three officers who watched the abuse have been fired and investigated. So, where’s the beef?  Why are opportunists looting stores, burning businesses, and beating up whites in the name of demanding justice? Who is opposing justice for Mr. Floyd? The answer is no one.

Therefore, what is the real purpose of the riots, hate, violence, and chaos in our streets? The answer is politics. Democrats and fake news media believe by generating racial hate, they can ensure that blacks will vote against Trump in November.

Like a magician uses misdirection, Democrats and fake news media hope to focus blacks’ attention away from the fact that blacks have experienced unprecedented prosperity and record low unemployment since Trump has been in the Oval Office.

Leftist political hacks say the killing of George Floyd reflects America’s systemic racism, a country dominated by white supremacists. They say America was founded by racist white men for racist white men. Folks, such bogus and divisive rhetoric is nothing more than leftist intellectual-sounding gobbledygook. There are not enough white supremacists in America to elect anyone to any public office.

In real-world America, blacks are not suffering persecution. I realize saying that will get me in trouble, but it is true. America is the greatest land of opportunity on the planet for all who choose to pursue their dreams. The perverted thinking of leftists has to make everyone a victim of someone or something. Democrats and fake news media brand blacks who do not harbor resentment for whites and America traitors to their race.

Blacks are only 13% of the population.  White America gifted its first black president two terms. And yet, far too many blacks absurdly believe Democrats’ and fake news media’s lie that white America did not want a black man in the White House. If America is such a hellhole of racism, how did Oprah Winfrey, a dark-complexioned stout black woman, become one of the wealthiest and most influential persons on the planet? The myth of America’s racism is evil, destructive, and must end.

Racism along with every other sin will exist until Jesus returns. However, there is not enough racism in America to stop anyone. This is why it is so offensive hearing wealthy black celebs filling young black minds with the lie that white America has stacked-the-deck against them. I wish blacks would ignore such crap and simply pursue their dreams.

Despite countless glaring examples of blacks thriving in America, Democrats, and fake news media relentlessly sell the lie that blacks can’t catch a break in this horrible country. This is why they persecute successful blacks who love their country and do not view themselves as victims.

Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden said, “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black.” Biden has also absurdly said, “Republicans want to put y’all back in chains.” Biden insultingly views blacks as brain-dead idiots eager to stay on Democrats’ government dependency plantation.

In 2020 America, the tired old battered, tattered, and torn race card has been begging to retire for several years. Democrats refuse to retire it because they believe playing it wins them emotional, mindless black votes, trumping logic, facts, and commonsense.

All of the people who are protesting because cops routinely murder blacks and because America is racist are responding to lies. Cops do not murder blacks so much as blacks murder blacks. America is not racist. Why do you think people risk everything to get here? Trump is building a wall to keep illegals out, not to keep people in. We are extremely blessed to be Americans living in America.

Americans should be angry and protest about failing schools controlled by Democrats. Students graduate who cannot read their diploma. People should be angry and protest Planned Parenthood’s black genocide. Why are 36% of America’s aborted babies black?

Black Christians should protest the Democrat party’s anti-Christian agenda which has led to the moral decay of the black community; fatherless households, gangs, crime, generational poverty, incarceration, and record-high black on black homicides.

I refuse to pander to Democrats’ and fake news medias’ lie that protests against cops, white supremacy and America are necessary. America is the greatest land of opportunity on the planet for all who choose to pursue their dreams. This truth should be repeatedly shouted from the rooftops.
