America’s Economy Needs Certainty

Sacramento, CA – Tea Party Express, the largest national tea party political action committee, is calling on the U.S. Senate to act responsibly and return to Washington D.C. to create a Payroll Tax solution that provides businesses with certainty and is financially sound.

Sal Russo, Chief Strategist of the Tea Party Express, said, “To begin the new year with continued economic uncertainty without addressing the fundamental problem of out-of-control spending is irresponsible.

“The Democrats in the Senate under the leadership of Harry Reid fail to grasp that much of our financial woes is caused by excessive spending and economic uncertainty. Their two month tax holiday proposal is geared towards political expediency and not a serious solution. We always will support allowing taxpayers to keep more of our money, but the Senate must address spending cuts and not aggravate our increasing deficit.

“We are encouraged that Speaker Boehner and the House Republicans have stood strong in opposition to this two month extension, but they must now follow through and find a practical solution that cuts spending and brings financial accountability.

“President Obama should end his perpetual political campaigning and demand that both the Senate and House remain in D.C. until a Payroll Tax Cut resolution is found. This two-month extension gimmick is not only unacceptable to the American people who have demanded fiscal responsibility, but is also opposed by the National Payroll Reporting Consortium, who has made it clear this extension is unfeasible.

“While the Democrats are concerned about ruining their Christmas holiday, most Americans are concerned that this Senate gimmick is part of the fiscal irresponsibility that is ruining America. The handful of Republicans that have been doing the bidding of the Democrats should take their election promise to restore American prosperity more seriously,” Russo concluded.
