The Chinese Dragon Flexes Its Military Muscle

China is breathing nuclear fire and threatening Japan and US military bases with nuclear weapons. This just came out on the pro-communist news source: Want China Times. Who’s afraid of the big, bad dragon? Everyone should be, because the Chinese will eventually act on their threats when they deem the time right and probably, when we aren’t looking:

The People’s Liberation Army’s H-6K strategic bomber can attack the Japanese mainland with CJ-10 cruise missiles without even leaving Chinese airspace, reports the Kanwa Defense Review run by Andrei Chang also known as Pinkov, a military analyst based in Canada.

China had no real nuclear projection capability until H-6K entered service with the PLA Air Force, Kanwa’s report said. H-6K bombers have already been deployed with the 8th and 10th air divisions of the PLA Air Force. However, strategic bombers alone can not help China penetrate enemy defenses using surface-to-air missiles. For this reason, the long-range cruise missile has become a crucial part of China’s nuclear arsenal.

With a range of between 1,500 and 2,000 kilometers, the CJ-10 meets the requirements of the PLA Air Force to possess the capability to launch strategic missile attacks against US military facilities and those of its allies in the Western Pacific. All major cities in India are also within range if the H-6K launches the missile from Tibet.

In a potential war against Southeast Asian neighbors over territories in the South China Sea, the CJ-10 could be launched directly against Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines from the airspace of China’s southern island province of Hainan. Although the bomber and cruise missile lack the range to attack Russia’s largest cities, they pose a major threat to Russian cities in the Far East. An H-6K taking off from the air base of the PLA’s 10th air division in Anqing, Anhui province, would be able to strike at all US military bases in South Korea.

If the bomber were commanded to attack Japan’s main island of Honshu, the best choice from which to launch the CJ-10 missile would be the airspace of the Shandong peninsula at a distance of 1,700 kilometers, the article said, while Heilongjiang province in northeastern China is only 1,100 kilometers from the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

On the list of possible targets:

  • US Military Bases
  • Japan
  • India
  • Malaysia
  • Vietnam
  • South Korea
  • Philippines

Although the Chinese have a penchant for bragging concerning their military prowess, their H-6K strategic bomber can attack US military bases in South Korea, as well as the Japanese mainland using long range nuclear cruise missiles. I have long contended that the Chinese military is now stronger than ours and they certainly have more disposable numbers of soldiers that they are more than willing to sacrifice in order to win in the South China Sea:

China is currently embroiled in a territorial dispute with Japan over the Senkaku Islands, tensions that were heightened earlier today when Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited a shrine seen by critics as a symbol of Tokyo’s wartime aggression.

The aggressive stance by the Chinese military has been ratcheting up for some time now. As reported on this site just recently, the PLA crowed over China’s first aircraft carrier combat task force. And who could forget in November, the nuclear attack impact map displaying American cities that were being suggested as targets for the PLA’s strategic submarine force and nuclear weapons. China has also just landed an unmanned ship on the moon and has at length outlined their satellite killing defenses. A nuclear attack could also come from China in space against America and we would not be able to stop it. A depiction promoting China’s Jade Rabbit Moon rover also included a background photograph of a mushroom cloud over Europe. Many have looked at this display and have put two and two together equaling China’s militarization of space.

While Obama bows to the Chinese; they build cities here in the US that are wholly Chinese (New York) and they buy up our real estate and businesses, we just sit idly by and let a stealth attack continue. They own us financially and there are those in power in this country who are just fine with that. They feel that in the end they will be taken care of no matter what. They might want to study history a little more closely before they have outlived their usefulness.

The Chinese dragon is flexing its military muscle. They are probing the US military’s response to violations of international waters and air space. Pretty soon they will be done war gaming and will come for what they feel is rightfully theirs and then they will move on the global chess board to take the American King. We better counter before we are in an absolute checkmate.

I’ll close with an interesting quote from my friend Jay Elliott:

Almost 40 years ago a friend introduced me to the game of Go. It is the oldest board game on earth and is a mental martial art in Japan and China, complete with kyu and dan ratings. There are hundreds of professional players in the East. When Mao captured China from Chiang Kai-shek, he was asked by western reporters what he credited for his victory and he replied, “Chiang Kai-shek plays chess, and I play Go.” Fabulous game, really.

‘Go’ is the encircling game. Apropos for what China is doing to the US currently.

Call For Obama To Intervene In Victim Of Sharia Asylum Request

By: Aeneas Lavinium

27 December 2013, Basel, Switzerland: The International Civil Liberties Alliance (ICLA) has today launched a campaign in support of the recent asylum request of Albina Kurmanbekova in the United States.

VOSAN Program Director Chris Knowles said:

“Albina’s case is very worrying. Lawmakers need to be made aware of such cases. They need to understand the dangers that sharia can pose to individual human rights. Granting asylum in this case might even go some way to assuage worries that sharia principles will not be allowed to take root in the United States itself.”

Miss Kurmanbekova’s case is currently being heard by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services and a decision is imminent. She was born a Muslim in Kyrgyzstan but converted to Christianity. Apostasy is a crime under sharia law and returning her to her country of origin may be extremely harmful to her personal safety. Furthermore, in Kyrgyzstan the second class status of women under sharia is compounded by the local cultural practice of ‘bridenapping’. This combines kidnapping with forced marriage and the authorities seem reluctant to stamp out this wicked and degrading practice.

Albina’s case illustrates a widespread problem – the persecution of Christians. During the current holiday season we should be mindful that large numbers of Christians currently face severe persecution in many parts of the Islamic world. It is time for human rights leaders such as the United States to put this problem high on the international political agenda.

Albina entered the United States legally on a work-and-travel visa and has respected American laws by going through the official channels to seek asylum.

While President Obama continues to support an amnesty for illegal aliens we hear very little from him about compassion for people who entered the country legally but seek genuine asylum through the proper legal channels. He should make his views on the Kurmanbekova case known to the public and should intervene on her behalf if that becomes necessary.

It is time for America to take a stand on human rights abuses in the Islamic world, making it clear that it is supports freedom of religion and therefore opposes practices that punish apostasy. President Obama will be endorsing sharia law if he allows this poor young women to be deported to Kyrgyzstan.

More information on the VOSAN campaign on behalf of Albina Kurmanbekova can be found HERE. More information about the Victims of Sharia Action Network can be found HERE and HERE.

The Council Has Spoken!! This Weeks’ Watcher’s Council Results – 12/27/13

The Watcher’s Council

Duck Dynasty’s Robertson Angers Alcoholics, Philanderers

Alea iacta est… the Council has spoken, the votes have been cast and we have the results for this week’s Watcher’s Council match-up.

The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool. – Proverbs 10:18

“We do not merely destroy our enemies; we change them.” – George Orwell, 1984

This week’s winner, The Noisy Room’s The Silencing of the Ducks, is her sharp, well written examination of the recent A&E/Duck Dynasty controversy and what it reveals about the Angry Left’s attempt at thought control and the war on America’s culture… including traditional Christianity and the right to profess its values. Here’s a slice:

I did not start viewing Duck Dynasty until a few months ago. It has since become our favorite show and we can’t get enough of it. Christian values, real people, guns and hunting – what’s not to love? But it would seem that being a Christian and espousing your beliefs in America is now becoming ever more dangerous. As RedState pointed out, ultimately you will care and you will have to take a stand and take sides.

Phil Robertson, the patriarch of Duck Dynasty, just did a GQ interview where he stated his Christian beliefs, which included those concerning Gays. This whole blowup is not so much about the Gay issue, but far more about the Constitution and the First Amendment. In the interview, Phil was asked if he thought homosexuality was sinful:

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he told GQ, before paraphrasing the Bible in Corinthians. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

For telling the truth and stating what he personally believed, A&E put him on indefinite hiatus. They fired him. I would be very surprised if the family did not tell A&E to stuff it. They managed to take THE most popular rated show ever and scuttle it. Phil had told A&E earlier that if they insisted he remove God or guns from his show, they were through:

On May 9, Greensboro, NC country station 93.1 The Wolf reported that after receiving complaints over prayers to God and the frequent use of guns on air, Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson said, “God and guns are part of our everyday lives [and] to remove either of them from the show is unacceptable.”

Sarah Palin came to Phil’s defense with the following quote:

Free speech is an endangered species. Those “intolerants” hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.

She’s right and this will backfire on A&E and all the others out there that are anti-Christian. Phil Robertson just became a warrior for God and the Constitution and I am sure he is up to the task. An attack on one Christian, is an attack on all of us. Time to draw our line in the Marxist sand.

Much more at the link.

In our non-Council category, the winner was Victor Davis Hanson with Pajama Boy Nation, submitted by Joshuapundit. It’s an examination of the metrosexual Pajama Boy used as a shill for ObamaCare and what it says about the Left and how they see the country. These opening paragraphs are a nice taste:

Will Kane of High Noon Pajama Boy wasn’t. Somehow we as a nation went from the iconic Marlboro Man to Pajama Boy — from the noble individual with a bad habit to the ignoble without a good habit — without a blink in between.

There are lots of revolting things in the Pajama Boy ad. After all, how can you top all at once a nerdy-looking child-man dressed in infantile pajamas while cradling a cup of hot chocolate with the smug assurance that he is running your life more than you his?

Do read it.

Okay, so here are this week’s full results. Both the Mellow Jihadi and VA Right were unable to vote this week, but neither was subject to the usual 2/3 vote penalty:

Council Winners

Non-Council Winners

See you next week! Don’t forget to tune in on Monday AM for this week’s Watcher’s Forum, as the Council and their invited special guests take apart one of the provocative issues of the day with short takes and weigh in… don’t you dare miss it. And don’t forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter… ’cause we’re cool like that!

Revealing Gaffe on MSNBC About Obama Coverage

By: Roger Aronoff
Accuracy in Media

The scenario is rich in irony. Glenn Greenwald, the left-wing journalist who became the conduit for NSA contractor Edward Snowden to leak American classified secrets to the world about NSA surveillance, both at home and abroad, was on MSNBC on Thursday talking about the latest from Snowden. How the members of the media, and the Democrats in Congress, wish this wasn’t occurring under their beloved Barack Obama. If only this had happened on George Bush’s watch, they could have been calling our government fascist, expressing hyper-outrage, and demanding impeachment. Instead, most of them find themselves reflexively defending the federal government tracking all of our phone calls and emails.

But in fact, this is what federal judge Richard Leon said last week about the NSA program:

“I cannot imagine a more ‘indiscriminate’ and ‘arbitrary invasion’ than this systematic and high-tech collection and retention of personal data on virtually every single citizen for purposes of querying and analyzing it without prior judicial approval. Surely such a program infringes on ‘that degree of privacy’ that the founders enshrined in the Fourth Amendment.”

Leon went on to call the program “almost-Orwellian technology.”

But as documented [with video] by The Daily Caller website, “Greenwald—the reporter who published Edward Snowden’s initial documents on NSA surveillance and retains many more for future publication—blasted MSNBC’s hypocrisy for suggesting his defense of Snowden violates journalistic ethics. ‘That’s ludicrous,’ he said, noting that ‘the agenda of President Obama and the Democratic Party are promoted, defended, [and] glorified’ every day on the cable network.”

MSNBC’s substitute anchor, Kristen Welker, who is normally NBC’s White House correspondent, was interviewing Greenwald the day after Christmas. She asked him to “respond to critics who claim he’s become ‘more of a spokesman for Edward Snowden.’

Greenwald’s response? Pot, meet kettle:”

I think that’s ludicrous, is what I say to that. Every journalist has an agenda. We’re on MSNBC now, where close to 24 hours a day the agenda of President Obama and the Democratic Party are promoted, defended, glorified. The agenda of the Republican Party is undermined. That doesn’t mean the people on MSNBC aren’t journalists, they are. I think every journalist has a viewpoint.

My viewpoint is clear. I don’t hide it. I think what Edward Snowden did was very admirable and heroic, but at the same time the ultimate test of a journalist is, is what you publish accurate and reliable? And I think with regard to every story we published over the last six months, there hasn’t been a single correction made to any of them, very few called into question. And I think that’s the ultimate question when it comes to journalism.

Welker, as The Daily Caller pointed out, appeared flustered. She said, “the point is not so much about MSNBC,” but that Greenwald’s defense of Snowden’s actions may “cross a line.”

“Sure, I do defend him,” Greenwald snarked back, “just like people on MSNBC defend President Obama and his officials and Democratic Party leaders 24 hours a day.”

Not everyone on MSNBC does that 24 hours a day,” Welker sulked (emphasis added). “No, not everybody,” Greenwald laughed. “But a lot—a LOT—of people on MSNBC do.”

That’s her defense? “Not everyone on MSNBC does that 24 hours a day.” Would she dare name names? Who are the faithless on the network who don’t do that 24 hours a day? And how many hours a day do they do that?

She had committed the unpardonable, a Washington gaffe, defined for modern pop and political culture by journalist Michael Kinsley as “when a politician tells the truth—some obvious truth he isn’t supposed to say.”

Okay, Welker is not a politician, per se. She just plays one on TV, like nearly all of the NBC / MSNBC hosts, news readers, and actual journalists.

Greenwald sounded like Accuracy in Media when he pointed out that the journalists of MSNBC “defend President Obama and his officials and Democratic Party leaders 24 hours a day.” And Welker inadvertently acknowledged that he is mostly correct. Okay, it’s not “24 hours a day,” and it’s “not everyone on MSNBC.” But you get the picture.
