Whole Foods Appreciation Day

By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton

Here is a chance for Conservatives and Tea Party members to join together to support someone who lives by Conservative principles. Just as we supported Chick-fil-A, Pappa Johns, Dominos and Hobby Lobby, Whole Foods deserves all of our support. Join in Whole Foods Appreciation Day on Saturday, February 9th by shopping at your local Whole Foods store.

Here is what Whole Foods Appreciation Day is about:

On January 16, while being interviewed on NPR, Whole Foods CEO John Mackey gave his opinion about the President’s healthcare law, and angered supporters of the law.

Mr. Mackey simply stated that the President’s health care law was more like fascism than socialism (which he had previously stated a couple of years ago), and he explained his reason for saying this:

Technically speaking, it’s more like fascism. Socialism is where the government owns the means of production. In fascism, the government doesn’t own the means of production, but they do control it, and that’s what’s happening with our healthcare programs and these reforms.

Supporters of the President’s takeover of our healthcare system will use any means necessary to stifle debate,

bully those that disagree into submission, and punish anyone who dares to stand up to them. The truth is Mr. Mackey is correct. Our government controls almost every aspect of our healthcare. While the government may not own you, or the doctors, hospitals and insurance companies, these entities are now forced to make all decisions in accordance with government mandates and regulations. The law took all of the problems we had in our healthcare system and made them worse.

And now there are people that want to make John Mackey pay for speaking the truth. These intolerant bullies want to punish Mr. Mackey by destroying his business and his career.

We must stand together to make sure these bullies do not succeed.

Also visit their Facebook pages here and here. This is a great company with great products – let’s all show how much we appreciate someone with a spine – CEO John Mackey. A patriot and a man I am very proud of.

ThirdWaveDave – Four Gold Stars

*I miss my friend Dave Logan of ThirdWaveDave very deeply as I know Andrea does. He passed away recently from cancer and has left a very large hole in our lives. Today is a very melancholy remembrance day for his friends.

By: Andrea Shea King
The Radio Patriot

Five years ago today, I posted a birthday greeting to ThirdWaveDave, my ASK show producer and friend Dave Logan.

Titled “A Man’s Choice of Hero Defines Him”, it featured a photo of Gen. George S. Patton, Jr., a man whose outlook on life has impressed and inspired many, especially Dave.

Dave and I had many conversations about Patton, about the battles he fought in the war theater and back home in the political morass of Washington DC. Patton knew what it was to fight on many fronts for his men. It was unceasing. But unlike today’s so-called “leadership”, Patton readily took the challenges and risks, and went willingly where others only dream. He led and inspired by example. And his men loved him for it.

“Instead of the empty, generalized rhetoric of no substance often used by Eisenhower, Patton spoke to his men in simple, down to earth language that they understood. He told them truthful lessons he had learned that would keep them alive.

As he traveled throughout battle areas, he always took the time to speak to individual soldiers, squads, platoons, companies, regiments, divisions or whatever size group could be collected.

About the only difference in the context of these talks was that the smaller the unit, the more “tactical” the talk would be. Often he would just give his men some sound, common sense advice that they could follow in order to keep from being killed or maimed.” ~ Charles Province, historian

Somewhere in England on a day in early June 1944, it was the eve of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion into France. Patton conducted his own “state of the union” address, gathering his men of the Third Army to clearly — and colorfully – prepare them for the battle that lay ahead. Not unlike the (bloodless) battles we now find ourselves in to protect and preserve our country from enemies determined to destroy it. What Gen. Patton told his men in that field that day is still relevant:

“All of the real heroes are not storybook combat fighters, either. Every single man in this Army plays a vital role.

Don’t ever let up. Don’t ever think that your job is unimportant. Every man has a job to do and he must do it. Every man is a vital link in the great chain.

What if every truck driver suddenly decided that he didn’t like the whine of those shells overhead, turned yellow, and jumped headlong into a ditch? The cowardly bastard could say, “Hell, they won’t miss me, just one man in thousands”.

But, what if every man thought that way? Where in the hell would we be now? What would our country, our loved ones, our homes, even the world, be like?

No, Godammit, Americans don’t think like that.”

Just as the Greatest Generation fought for freedom against the Germans and the Japanese, our generation is again being called to defend a country under attack by dual enemies whose ideologies are anathema to the concept of liberty. Who will be the victor? The vanquished?

“I don’t want to get any messages saying, ‘I am holding my position.’ We are not holding a Godamned thing. Let the Germans do that. We are advancing constantly and we are not interested in holding onto anything…”

We are the hope of the world. Without us, the torch of liberty and freedom extinguishes, casting us all into the darkness of Marxist or Jihadist totalitarianism. Patton knew that, as did Ronald Reagan, another of Dave’s heroes. We are the bulwark, the fire line, the wall that separates us from the fires of Mordor.

As the men of Patton’s Third Army went into battle determined to win and perhaps to die to preserve our God-given rights, can we do no less? Consider Patton’s admonition to his men:

“There is one great thing that you men will all be able to say after this war is over and you are home once again.

You may be thankful that twenty years from now when you are sitting by the fireplace with your grandson on your knee and he asks you what you did in the great World War II, you WON’T have to cough, shift him to the other knee and say, “Well, your Granddaddy shoveled shit in Louisiana.”

No, Sir, you can look him straight in the eye and say, “Son, your Granddaddy rode with the Great Third Army and a Son-of-a-Goddamned-Bitch named Georgie Patton!”

Dave was in the battle. Are you? Do you understand what’s at stake? Patton did. Dave did. Many of us do.

Dave chose an amazing man to emulate. And through his battle with leukemia, ThirdWaveDave never shirked, he never folded, he always moved forward, never holding ground. In the face of sometimes seemingly insurmountable odds, he persevered without complaint. Dave Logan was and will always be defined by his hero.

Happy Birthday, Dave. You certainly earned your Four Gold Stars!

Al Gore’s “Global Mind” Ripe for Jihad

By: Cliff Kincaid
Accuracy in Media

The controversy over his sale of Current TV to Terror Television channel Al Jazeera has tended to dominate coverage of Al Gore’s new 558-page book, The Future, about a “global mind” and the “planetization” of consciousness also known as “Earth Inc.” The book is as bizarre as the sale of his channel to Terror TV.

Indeed, the book sounds like something from the mind of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. However, Gore claims to be serious and the book is not supposed to be science fiction.

The former Vice President, and member of Apple Inc.’s board of directors, believes in the development of a new international order, based on carbon taxes and other restrictions on our ability to produce and use energy. Somebody from somewhere will then emerge to provide global leadership that he contends we are sorely lacking. It sounds like something out of the Book of Revelation.

This gobbledygook makes you wonder whether Gore has returned to his old habit of marijuana smoking. An old friend reported that he was “an enthusiastic recreational user” of the drug in years past. The former Vice President’s own son was arrested twice on charges of possessing marijuana with the police in one case finding prescription bottles containing Valium, Vicodin, Xanax, and Adderall in his car.

For his part, Al Gore was the subject of a detailed complaint filed by a “massage therapist” in Oregon who said he acted like a “crazed sex poodle” in a sexual assault that she feared might turn into a rape. Despite claims that Gore was “cleared” of the charges, the incident was actually covered up by the local press and authorities for several years. It wasn’t until the National Enquirer broke the story that the evidence came out.

Though regarded by some as a supermarket tabloid which makes things up, the National Enquirer broke the stories of adultery by Democratic Party politicians Jesse Jackson and John Edwards, with the rest of the media struggling to catch up. Those stories turned out to be true. Although the massage therapist decided eventually not to pursue the case against Gore, her testimony, including a 78-page interview, was persuasive and convincing. Audio recordings of the victim were subsequently released by the Portland police.

Gore eventually denied the charges but later announced he was splitting from his wife of 40 years, Tipper. He got a divorce and a new girlfriend. According to a recent New York Times story, he “lives alone now, in a 10,000-square-foot colonial in Nashville, where magnolia trees shade the house and geothermal wells, buried beneath the driveway, cool and heat its 20 rooms.” A photograph on his website of his office seems to indicate that he is suffering from “paralysis of analysis,” as he is surrounded by mounds of papers and books and staring into three computer screens.

The latest entry on “Al’s Journal” is a summary of research from Media Matters, the George Soros-funded group, on how the “conservative media” have played down the importance of solar energy.

While Gore was saving the world, his family life was deteriorating. Now, in the name of saving the world, he is putting our lives in danger. Al Jazeera is the voice of al Qaeda and Al Gore knows it, although he told David Letterman that those Osama bin Laden tapes broadcast by the channel were just “misinterpreted.”

In a case of like father, like son, Gore’s father benefitted from dirty deals with the Soviet Union through Armand Hammer, the late chairman of Occidental Petroleum. Now the son profits from a dirty deal with the regime in Qatar to facilitate the entry of its Al Jazeera channel into the U.S. media market.

It is despicable, even treasonous. Al Gore and the other Democrats who had invested in Current TV, including the husband of Senator Dianne Feinstein, make tons of money, while Al Jazeera gets access to American Muslims, who are potential recruits for the Jihad on American soil.

In addition to the homeland security threat this deal represents, author Mark Musser has drawn attention to the issue of why, as noted by Al Gore himself, Al Jazeera has been covering the alleged dangers of global warming and climate change. On this point, Gore is correct. The channel has been covering something near and dear to Al Gore’s heart. Gore thinks this is great.

The explanation, however, is not that Al Jazeera is concerned about extreme weather hitting the U.S. or the rest of the world. Rather, it is for the same reason that the United Arab Emirates, a member of OPEC, funded Matt Damon’s film “Promised Land” blasting American oil and natural gas producers for a technique for extracting oil and gas from shale formations called fracking.

Musser, a contributing writer for the Cornwall Alliance, says, “…the Muslim world is far more worried that the present U.S. shale gas boom and the great successes of oil fracking will cut into their profits than they are about the environment. If the gas and oil boom continue as it is now, at some point down the road, America will no longer need Middle Eastern oil as much as it does today. Neither will it be necessary to continue to compromise with the Muslims over Israel. Neither would OPEC be able to continue to control the oil markets of the world to the extent that is seen at present. Such a turn of events would also impoverish the Muslim ability to harass and maim Israel, and help defund terrorist groups all at the same time—without firing a shot.”

This information puts the sale of current TV to Al Jazeera in a new context which also highlights its potential dangers. In this case, the new “Al Jazeera America” can be expected to push the Al Gore “progressive” view on limiting U.S. energy production. Qatar and other OPEC members will protect their profits as a result.

Still, Congress, which several years ago forced a company in the Arab state of Dubai to abandon a plan to run U.S. ports, is silent about Al Jazeera’s takeover of a cable channel reaching 40-50 million homes. It is another indication of how Republicans on Capitol Hill, led by Rep. Michael McCaul, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, are giving up the fight.

Forum: What Is Your Reaction To The Obama Administration’s Recent Policy Change To Allow Women In Combat?

The Watcher’s Council

Every week on Monday morning, the Council and its invited guests weigh in at the Watcher’s Forum with short takes on a major issue of the day. This week’s question: What Is Your Reaction To The Obama Administration’s Recent Policy Change To Allow Women In Combat?

The Razor: If it’s fine for the Israelis, it’s fine by me. As far as I’m concerned in the battle with militant Islam we are all on the frontlines – men, women, old and young.

GrEaT sAtAn”S gIrLfRiEnD: Combat girls? Reckon all girls should sign up for Selective Service then…

The Noisy Room: I know that many women will disagree with me, but I think allowing women in combat and on the front lines is a horrific decision on several fronts. First of all, it is instinctual for a man to protect a woman, no matter what they say. If a man sees a woman in distress during combat, he is much more likely to put himself at risk (and the mission) and run to her aid. Physically, women are just not as able to handle the rigors of combat as men are either. War is hell and it is brutal business. It tends to haunt men for the rest of their lives as it did my father, who never spoke of WWII and the Kamikaze attack on his ship. An attack which killed everyone on the deck but my father and many of those deaths were from sheer shock. He suffered nightmares the rest of his life and woke up swinging at remembered enemies. Is it wise to subject the mothers of children to such horrific circumstances? It changes you. These men, many times, come home broken physically and emotionally. It is a sacrifice men have carried for millenia and it is a role that is meant for men to lead in. It is not a matter of sexism, it is a matter of survival. The brotherhood of the special forces shouldn’t be diminished by mixing the genders, exposing the ranks to sexual situations and tensions and feminizing our warriors. Men have always put women first, it is our heritage and we shouldn’t mess with that instinct. Let the guys be the badasses and handle the enemy – hand to hand, up close, with at least a chance of survival.

If a man is captured, he may be tortured and killed. If a woman is captured, especially if it involves Jihadists, her fate will be a thousand times worse. She would not only be raped over and over, but her death would not come quickly. She would be used as bait to kill others. Whereas this ploy does not generally work with male prisoners, it is far more likely to succeed with a female as females strike a deeper chord in our subconscious. This is why females are used as suicide bombers. While Israel’s IDF forces require women to serve three years, one can understand this because they don’t have the breadth and depth of soldiers to draw from. Until 2000, these women served in non-combat roles, but since 2000, as I understand it, they instituted an Equality amendment that provides that women can serve in any position men do. Currently about 3% serve as combat soldiers and the military leadership is having some of the same discussions we are. This does not change my viewpoint of women being on the front lines.

All of this is unnecessary. Women are great in command positions and under stress. They are great as pilots and in other positions. But on the war front, in my opinion, they are an unnecessary distraction from the task at hand. This is a further weakening of our military. It is par for the course for Leon Panetta. It is meant to appease the liberal base for Barack Obama, without an eye to the rigors of combat and the realities of war. Women now truly have an equal opportunity to be drafted and a greater opportunity to die. This is a move guaranteed to get more people killed – but hey, the elites making the rules aren’t on the front lines are they? Not yet any way.

The Glittering Eye: Since the laws capping the number of women and restrictions on rank in the military in the United States were repealed in 1967 and women were allowed in jobs in which combat was likely to be seen starting in the 1990s, women in combat have been a foregone conclusion. The challenges now are in preserving force readiness.

The scholarship on women in combat is ambiguous at best. Some indicates few issues; other scholarship suggests the possibility of extreme problems in morale. I guess we’ll need to learn to deal with them.

I have little doubt that some women will be able to deal with the physical and psychological issues of combat. The challenge will be to avoid the temptation to lower the requirements to allow more women to qualify.

Experience in civilian life with police and fire departments suggest that doing so will be quite difficult.

JoshuaPundit: The example a lot of proponents of this use is the Israeli Defense Forces, where women have been in combat situations for some time. What most people don’t take into account is that Israel’s situation is very different in many ways, and the IDF has some fairly stringent rules on the matter.

Israel has always fought defensive wars on its borders and they have been wars that have been of fairly short duration, not huge overseas deployments that go on for months. And the U.S. has an all volunteer military, not universal conscription. Having troops, reserve and regular in the field for a week or two relatively close to home is far different than the current American military experience. The IDF also has restrictions on where women may serve (Israel’s elite units like the Sayaret, which sometime perform missions behind enemy lines are closed to them). With near universal conscription, the IDF’s rate of female participation is around 34%, about double ours. But only 3% serve in active combat roles, mostly in recon, signals, artillery, field intelligence, and communications, although there are infantry positions open to women. My point here is that the Israelis understand the nature of the enemy they’re dealing with and assign all but a very small fraction of women accordingly.

Also, the culture’s different. Being a small country, a lot of people whom know each other tend to serve together in the same units. Aside from the fact that Israel’s armed forces contain a lot of Jews whose religious beliefs prohibit them from even touching a woman not a family member or a spouse, the fact that men may be serving with a woman who lives in the same neighborhood or whose family they know, along with the short, relatively close to home deployments and the extremely strict IDF regs on the matter tends to minimize harassment and sexual assaults. In the IDF, every unit with women serving in it has its own female officer assigned who women can go to if they have complaints about how they’re being treated.

In comparing this with America’s situation, several questions arise.

Given the political clout of radical feminists in America, are standards going to be relaxed simply to be politically correct? Are promotions going to be given based on gender merely to look good? There are already problems with sexual harassment, pregnancies and rape in the military because of the long foreign deployments, differences in culture, and the simple nature of human beings. Are women in combat going to have access to someone they can easily report harassment or assault to?

At a time when our military is being severely downsized and soldiers and marines with 10 and 15 years service are being pushed into early ‘retirement’ that gives them a reduced pension, does this new position mean that experienced, battle tested male troops are going to be replaced by inexperienced female troops simply because of political correctness?

The way we answer these questions will determine how successful this is. Given whose ultimately in charge of the military and instituting policy today, I’m not optimistic, but hope to be pleasantly surprised.

Bookworm Room: I think it’s a terrible idea, and I say this despite knowing that there are women out there who are incredibly strong and have military accomplishments that are equal to those you’ll find in ordinary infantry troops. I also say this despite knowing that, in various wars, when the enemy came right to the doorstep, the women grabbed their weapons and fought.

The exceptions, however, should not create the rule. On average, women are smaller and weaker than men. The only response the military can have to meet the reality that women are weaker and smaller than man is to lower standards, which puts all front-line troops at risk.

On average, men feel honor bound to protect those who are smaller and weaker, which will severely compromise overall unit safety. Guys will make stupid decisions when they see the “little sister” of the unit in danger — especially if she’s in danger of rape and sexual torture from an enemy that believes all Western women are whores.

Not on average, but every darn time, women pee standing up and, unless they allow the military to sterilize or drug them, they have periods. Another biological reality is that women get pregnant — and they’re a lot more likely to get pregnant in adrenalin-rush situations with lots of equally adrenalinized young men around. And here’s another reality: sexual rivalries will also work to tear apart unit cohesion.

No matter how you look at it, putting women on the front line is a dreadful idea, one that ignores biological imperatives and realities. In another words, it’s an idea that only a Leftist could love.

The Colossus of Rhodey: Never having been in the military, my position is the same as it was when gays in the military was being debated: I’ll defer to those with the actual experience … and NOT the politically correct politicians. As it is currently, I’ve no issue with women serving in combat roles as long as physical (and other) standards are not lowered for them. If any woman can meet the standards required for combat roles, I see no reason why they shouldn’t be able to serve in such a role.

The Independent Sentinel: Well they wanted equality and they got it.

From the male perspective, I don’t like it. Two of my sons are former marines and they both said the physical for women is about half what it is for men. That does not equate for me. They either do what the men can do or they are out.

Well, there you have it.
