It’s For Your Own Good

By: Nancy Morgan
RightBias.com

Since I’ve been otherwise occupied making a living, it’s reassuring to know that my government is looking out for me. In just the last month, our tireless public servants have proposed numerous measures that will make my life better and more worry free.

No longer will I have to worry about drug addicts being able to rig a urine test. The Senate is set to vote on a measure that would make it illegal to sell fake urine for the purpose of falsifying a drug test. Whew.

While they’re at it, Congress is also working on banning smokeless tobacco in Major League Baseball. Not only that, but Obama just signed legislation that bans the Post Office from shipping cigarettes, and the CDC is preparing to launch a co-ordinated 50-state anti-smoking campaign. This is just in case you didn’t know that smoking may contribute to lung cancer.

Meanwhile, the bureaucrats at the Food and Drug Administration are planning an unprecedented effort to reduce the salt in my diet. Of course, this is for my own good. The FDA is also developing a new regulation that would require food manufacturers to display the nutritional content of food on the front of packages. Finally!

Going a step further, a county supervisor in California has proposed a ban on the inclusion of toys in restaurant meals that contain high amounts of sugar, salt or certain fats. Whoa. Now my kids are protected too – for their own good.

The new fuel mandates Obama recently instituted will keep the earth from melting. Who knew? I figure the additional $1,100 cost they add to every new car is a small price to pay. And in a further effort to save the earth, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a press conference to announce that the new “green” light fixtures in the House cafeteria will recoup their $140,000 cost in only 10 years. You won’t find any waste of tax dollars on her watch. You betcha.

Speaking of going green, our eco-conscious legislators are also considering enacting the 21st Century Green High-Performing Public Schools Facilities Act. For only $32.9 billion bucks, this act will create a “healthier, safer and more energy-efficient teaching environment by requiring schools to use green materials.” This is a small price to pay to save the earth and educate future generations, right?

Our government has been working overtime on our behalf. In just the last month it has cracked down on profiling Muslim terrorists, made it easier for gays to sue their employers and threatened to sue Arizona for requiring citizens to actually prove they are U.S., citizens.

I figure the $670 billion in gross tax increases since January of 2009 are well worth the price for the excellent work being done on my behalf. Hey, that’s only $2,100 dollars for every man, woman and child. And Obama assures me that rich fat cats will be paying the freight for all these new safety measures that will benefit us all. How cool is that?

With Obama in charge, I no longer have to worry about terrorists attacking us. And if Obama is OK with rogue state Iran having the ability to make nuclear bombs, then its OK with me, too. After all, he’s the expert. And after seeing him on American Idol, I’m reassured that our president will be able to charm all our enemies into laying down their arms and joining Obama in his quest for world peace. Kumbaya.

Just knowing that the government is looking out for me makes me feel warm and fuzzy. Even though 80% of Americans say they can’t trust Washington and have little faith that the massive federal bureaucracy can solve America’s problems, I know they’re wrong. Just look at what the government has done for us lately.

Commercial Real Estate Losses and the Risk to Financial Stability. This U.S. Senate report begins: “The Congressional Oversight Panel’s February oversight report, “Commercial Real Estate Losses and the Risk to Financial Stability,” expresses concern that a wave of commercial real estate loan losses over the next four years could jeopardize the stability of many banks, particularly community banks. Commercial real estate loans made over the last decade – including retail properties, office space, industrial facilities, hotels and apartments – totaling $1.4 trillion will require refinancing in 2011 through 2014.”

SATMAR BIKUR CHOLIM HONORS DR. BARRY J. BULS

By: Fern Sidman

The Ateres Chynka Hall on the border of Flatbush and Boro Park was filled to capacity on Tuesday evening April 27th, as the ladies of the Satmar Bikur Cholim gathered for their 2010 Spring Tea. Renowned for their exemplary dedication to visiting those in hospitals and providing boundless succor to the elderly, the homebound, families of special needs children and women who have just given birth, the Satmar Bikur Cholim also provides financial assistance to the needy and those hardest hit by skyrocketing medical costs.

Special tributes were paid to the guests of honor, Rebbetzin Avigail Ginzberg of Cedarhurst and Rebbetzin Chana Spiegel who were hailed as true Nashim Tzidkanyos (righteous women) for their unflagging and tireless devotion to helping the infirm and their families. The recipient of this year’s Kesser Shem Tov Award was Dina Iskowitz, the Chesed Award was presented to Devori Weinstock, the Rae (Farber) Stein Memorial Awardee was Rivkah Szmulewicz and the Community Service Award went to Gail Ehrlich. Memorial awards were presented in loving memory of Rochel Traube, A”H, and Rafael Gancz, A”H by their respective families.

Three outstanding physicians received special recognition for their commitment to the needs of their patients and the community at large. A father and son team, Baroukh E. Kodsi, MD, FACP and son Robert Kodsi, MD were hailed as “messengers and partners of HaKadosh Baruch Hu in their dedication to healing” and were presented with the auspicious Physician of the Year Award. The elder Dr. Kodzi said it is his “honor and pleasure to serve the community” and praised the Satmar Bikur Cholim for its exceptional service.

The highlight of the evening was the address delivered by Dr. Barry J. Buls, beloved internist with a practice in Flatbush, who was the recipient of a very special Physician of the Year Award for his decades of unflinching commitment to his patients, his infinite compassion and his ceaseless Ahavas Yisroel. Speaking of the stalwart volunteers of the Satmar Bikur Cholim he said, “Why is it that women say the brocha, ‘Sh’Asani Kirtzono’ when all of us were created according to the will of Hashem? It is because the world was devoid of chesed (kindness) before the creation of the first woman. It is through women that we learned the true meaning of Hashem’s chesed.”

He added, “when members of our community are suffering, these ladies who truly understand the true meaning of words bikur cholim rise to the occasion and actually investigate what a choleh and their families need and act upon it.” Dr. Buls relayed a poignant story of a person who was quite ill. Due to financial hardships, they and their family were living in dire poverty. With no means to purchase beds, the family was sleeping on the floor amid clutter. When told of this situation it was the Satmar Bikur Cholim who immediately provided brand new beds and other essentials to the family; ensuring that they would live in a clean and safe environment.

In his concluding remarks Dr. Buls said, “Now, more then ever, our times dictate that the services that the Satmar Bikur Cholim perform will be indispensable” and urged the community to continue its support.

Meet Gerry Hudson – VP of SEIU…

From: KeyWiki

Gerry Hudson – VP of SEIU

Gerry Hudson has served as the Executive Vice President of the Service Employees International Union since June, 2004. He joined the union in 1978, at which time he was working at a retirement home in New York, becoming Executive Vice President of the New York chapter in 1989. He serves on the board of the Apollo Alliance. In 1998 Hudson was a founder of the Communist-controlled organization, the Black Radical Congress.

On April 6, 2010, Hudson spoke in a panel entitled “Labor, the Left and Progressives in the Obama Era” which was held at Georgetown University, alongside Chris Hayes, Harold Meyerson, Liz Shuler, Gerry Hudson, Michael Kazin, Joseph McCartin and Barbara Ehrenreich. During the panel, Hudson shared his thoughts on immigration, stating: “…On white workers, I think we got some real problems… I have heard some of the most anti-immigrant sentiments around… and this is where you get the black workers first, it’s so f**king rabidly racist, til black people get scared…

Hudson is also a long-time member of the Democratic Socialists of America, joining in the 1970s when the organization was known as the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee. Hudson sees the election of Barack Obama as a chance to advance the socialist vision of DSA founder, Michael Harrington. On Jan. 22, 2009, he stated: “How [Michael] would marvel at the election of Barack Obama and the promise that this victory affords all of us on the democratic left! With our country poised for massive, progressive change, we finally have the chance to build a broad democratic left majority with labor at its core.” (more…)

How the world REALLY works – “Jimmy from Brooklyn” on “Savage Nation”

By: Trevor Loudon
KeyWikiBlog

Below is a conversation between US talk show host Michael Savage and long time prolific caller “Jimmy from Brooklyn.”

“Jimmy” beautifully sums up the worldview behind this website.

Islamic terrorism is essentially controlled by Russia and China, who are still working together to destroy the US.

“Jimmy” also correctly identifies two of the most dangerous organizations within the US – the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Institute for Policy Studies.

This guy is right on the button. Listen in.
