Addressing the United Auto Workers 2011 special bargaining convention in Detroit this last Tuesday, union President Bob King, a long time Democratic Socialists of America sympathizer, issued a strong call to re-elect Barack Obama in 2012.
The UAW’s special convention, held every four years, sets the overall agenda for the union’s work for the coming period.
According to the Peoples World:
Looking ahead to the 2012 elections, the UAW head spoke of the importance of re-electing President Obama. He lauded the president for what he described as Obama’s almost single-handed role in saving the auto industry and the union. Addressing criticisms of Obama for not doing enough, King said, “Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. We have never had a president as friendly toward labor.”
Or as unfriendly toward liberty?
